Concorde - a Wonderful Aircraft
For anyone who has ever flown on Concorde, or been interested in her, this is a fascinating read. From the Chief Pilot of the British Airways Concorde Program comes a detailed chronicle on her development, testing, commercialization / operations, and ultimately her demise - which was really not from that fatal accident at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris in 2003, but bad economics. Makes one wonder if we will see supersonic commercial air travel anytime soon. The only thing missing in the book were a chapter or two dedicated to actual specific flights with specific passengers - rock stars, actors/ actresses, heads of state and their specific experiences and comments. My own personal experiences were ones of marvel and amazement. She was very comfortable to fly in - well above most weather, though a but cramped, service was excellent, and you really could see the curvature of the weather while cruising. She was also a beautiful aircraft. and to take off from London Heathrow an arrive a NY JFK at a time before you departed Heathrow was a definitive expression of her speed.
