Perfect for what I want
It is great for what I want. I can use it when I am doing work on my guitars. Also I adapted my mobility scooter so I can plug a stereo micro plug into it ( or usb). That waswhy I asked IF it could be plugged into an "out" on a footpedal. WELL YOU CAN . I tried it with my mixing desk first. Then used on my 300 watt amp on my scooter. Perfect. ( without the drive on ).I also had a go with it as intended. Headphones.I like the echo effect and distortion from drive. However mine goes from nothing to 3/4 up in volume.I am next going to try and run something in the sun. Like my phone .to jam with something. So all in all. ???? An excellent buy. It works well and battery lasts me agesSo I give it 10/10.

Pretty good value! Does exactly what it needs to
It's a little, rechargeable mini-amp for headphones. Sound quality is way better than I expected for this price, very little buzzing and lots of volume. The clean tone isn't great on this particular unit, but I understand there are specific units for user needs - and this one does high-gain very well ('Heavy Metal' indeed). There's even a delay effect, which is surprisingly good too.Highly recommended - but ensure you get the unit that's right for the tone you want to hear.

Good stuff
It's fairly basic but very good at the price. It has four main functions - volume, tone, drive and 'fx'. The 'fx' is limited to a distracting echo which I would never use. At the top end the drive function gives you a heavy metal sound (for my Metallica habit), at the middle it gives you a rocky sound (sort of like ZZ-top) and at the absolute bottom (no drive) it gives you a fairly clean sort of Hendrix's-slower-songs vibe. Pretty much everything I would want. It has a headphone splitter so that you can listen in real time as well as sending an input to a recording device (I use a laptop program), and the recorded signal will be identical to what you hear. This makes it exactly what I hoped for.

Excellent practice amp
This little amp is brilliant for practice and jamming with your favourite bands via the auxiliary function.Distortion and volume were far better than I expected, with the delay FX on just makes this a perfect practice tool forrock and metal.Straight out the packaging it was fully charged and was supposed tolast 5 hours, mine lasted almost 12 hours before I had to charge it again.Going to purchase another one for my son who also plays guitar.(Use good headphones to get the best sound out of this little amp)Other than that, a brilliant piece of kit from Donner.

ok for the money but..
there is a background hiss when using. I do not like the effect and just use the clean circuit. I would probably buy a more expensive headphone amp in the hopes of getting better sound quality

Decent Dirty Tone For the Money
**update on original review, couple of weeks of use**For reason I don't understand, the sound quality of the unit has fallen off a cliff. My headphones are fine and I'm using the same 3 guitars. As below, I take care of my gear. Not had any knocks or bumps.Fully charged up bit complete degradation of sound quality.Back to the Fender Micro.*************************Utterly bizarre.I bought this on a whim. I've had a Fender Mustang Micro for about 6 months and was blown away by the sounds available from such a small device. I paid £75 for the Fender in a sale. I was curious to hear how something a third of the price and Metal focused compared. The build quality of the Donner isn't as robust feeling as the Fender, which you might expect for the money. The switches and Tone/Volume/Drive dials feel pretty cheap. The plug fits okay into a Fender Strat and Tele but the angle of the device makes it harder to read and adjust without peering down. I use a Gibson Nighthawk as well and it fits fine in that. Putting the Nighthawk into Rock settings makes the Donner quite mushy. If you're using high gain pickups, this might be an issue. It does make my Tele a Metal machine though! For the cash it's pretty good. It is rechargeable via USB. I'm not convinced it's going to be robust enough to have a long life, even though I'm pretty careful with my kit. Funnto play with though and it does do what it says on the tin.Overall, if you can stretch to something like the Fender Mustang, I'd go with that but no real complaints given it cost 25 quid.

Superb tool for home practice
Living in a family situation is not compatible with cranking a real amp, or even a small practice amp, when the kids are sleeping. I got this tiny headphone amp to work around this.I got the "Heavy Metal" version and I'm really impressed with the sound. It's a high gain sound that is great for singing leads, which is particularly useful for home practice as small practice amps don't do this well. It's not a subtle sound, but it's not meant to be! The description says it has chorus but mine seems to have delay instead. The delay is far more useful in my opinion and adds some real depth to solos.Stating the obvious here but you'll get the best out of this unit if you use a decent pair of headphones.I've also got a few of the Vox amPlug units which are a very similar size. The Vox amPlugs have the edge in features as they have more FX e.g., the Classic Rock amPlug can do mid boost and one of reverb/delay/chorus, whereas the Donner just does one. However, the Vox amPlug is about three times the price, and uses AAA cells rather than being rechargeable. Being able to charge the Donner by USB outweighs the Vox FX for me.
