Which is better stannous flouride ir sodium flouride? Which one does this have? Confused by reviews?? Thanks

Stannous fluoride, unlike other flourides, has a tendency to inhibit the growth of bacteria which are involved in gum disease. As a result, the plaque is less toxic to the gums.All things being equal (e.g. flossing, brushing, dental visits), you should do better with a toothpaste with stannous fluoride. The reason why most toothpastes use sodium fluoride instead of stannous fluoride is because the latter tends to cause light staining of the teeth over time. You got a choice of health or aesthetics.Source:I'm a dentist. I just searched for your answer.  My dentist tells me that GelKam stains teeth.  However, so does red wine, blue berries, and other foods.  I use this product to protect my teeth and have used it for years.  I have no gingivitis or cavities and always have great check ups. Can flouride like this *reverse* existing decay/dental caries/cavities? I have some spots that are on the border of needing a filling or not.

This is just a flouride gel - only the dentist can remove existing decay and fill the tooth.  If you are afraid to go to the dentist don't be - it's not painful anymore (like years ago).  If cost is a problem, check into universities that have dental programs - students gain experience (under the supervision of dentists) by working on patients for free or for very low cost.  Some dentists will do free consultations.

What is the flouride %?  Assume leave on 1 hr before drinking or eating.

0.4% Stannous Fluoride.   Says brush teeth thoroughly with gel , THEN leave gel on teeth for 1 minute, then spit it out:  then don't rinse, or eat drink or swallow for 30 minutes.   Says use once a day for cavity protection, twice a day for sensitivity relief. Can't say its working other than to say teeth have not fallen out (laugh)   won't know really about cavity protection qualities for years..   It does say the : Purpose of the product is for Anti-Cavity/Sensitivity Relief.    Hope this helps.
