I have a Springer Spaniel with a thick coat of hair. These clippers walk right through it with ease. The attachments have the proper fit and form to work as designed. There are less expensive clippers on the market that I have not tried. I went with the best I could find. I used Oster barber clippers designed for thinner human hair, and they didn't work well. I eventually got the job done, but it was hard on my dog and me. These have shaved (no pun intended) over 15 minutes off my dog grooming time. I was used to using comb-less institutional Oster clippers in vet clinics and laboratories, so when I received and tried this light, smooth, quiet, more-precise (especially with comb) and smaller clipper - that was also so pretty!, - I was amazed. This makes clipping my dog kind of fun for both of us (ok..a bit more for me than her). I know this Wahl clipper is exceptionally durable and that I will always have access to parts and other blades, combs if needed - which is important considering the investment.
