Color too pale; bland flavor
If I hadn't previously tried Madre Labs 'Simply Acai', I might've mistakenly thought that this product from Bulk Supplements is a good representation of organic acai berry powder. As soon as I opened its metallized plastic envelope, I was disgusted by its pale color. I'm sure there is some euphemistic 3-syllable color name fancied for this shade of purple, but I was expecting the powder to appear like that from Madre Labs; similar to finely ground French roast coffee. What an initial disappointment that was! I still had a small qty of the Madre Labs (ML) product left (purchased from iHerb), so I was able to do a side-by-side comparison. In one drinking glass I mixed one tablespoon of this Bulk Supplements (BS) powder into 1 cup of triple filtered tap water. That produced about the same color and flavor mixture as a mixture of 1/2 TEASPOON of ML powder in the same qty of water. Obviously the BS powder is of vastly inferior quality. But considering its low price, could it still be a better value than the ML powder. Well, then let's do the math... From Amazon, the ML is currently priced at $4.38/oz and BS is at only $1.68/oz. So the ML costs 2.6 times more per unit weight than the BS. However you must consume the BS at a rate that is about 6 times greater than the ML in order to reach "parity" with the ML. But even then, it's doubtful that the two consumptions would be nutritionally equivalent. There is no doubt in my mind that the BS product has a disproportionately inferior antioxidant assay. My hunch is that the BS product is merely evaporated juice from pressed berries, whereas the ML product is mashed, dried and pulverized whole berries (including the skins).

It does not dissolve well, and
Iโve chosen instead capsules, which are much more potent. I take them at night before I go to bed, so they stay in my system longer. I am almost 73 and Iโm grasping at straws that might possibly help me live longer.
