Considered as one of the greatest players of all time, Brazilian striker Pelé holds the Guinness World record for most goals scored, with a total of 1,283 goals in 1,363 matches. Raised in poverty in the state of São Paulo, Pelé was taught to play football by his father - as they could not afford a ball they played with a grapefruit or a sock stuffed with newspaper. Ultimate Football Heroes is a series of biographies telling the life stories of the biggest and best footballers in the world and their incredible journeys from childhood fan to superstar professional player. Written in fast-paced, action-packed style these books are perfect for all the family to collect and share. Review: Great introduction to a true legend - This was a really enjoyable read and a great way to learn about Pele’s life and career. The story is easy to follow and does a good job showing how he grew up with very little and still became one of the greatest footballers ever. I liked how it focuses not just on his success, but also on his childhood and determination. The writing is fast paced and engaging, making it perfect for kids or anyone who wants a quick but meaningful biography. It feels inspiring without being boring or overly detailed. A solid addition to the Ultimate Football Heroes series and a great pick for young sports fans. Review: My nephew loves these books - I'm not a football fan but these were on a birthday wish list for my 8 year old nephew who loves this series. Reaally got him into reading too

Well written & accessible, highly recommend
As all the others in this series, book is well written and my 9 year old grandson loved it. He has been reading these books independently for a couple of years now and thoroughly enjoying them. The balance of information/writing style is just right and he also loves sharing the things he’s learned about, so I’m learning too! Highly recommended.
