The wrist pulse oximeter features a color, multi-direction OLED (organic light emitting diode) screen with four levels of brightness. The easy-to-read 256k color OLED display can be adjusted to be readable either horizontally or vertically. The display shows pulse rate, blood oxygen saturation, pulse waveform, pulse bar graph, and battery level indicator. This is not a medical device and is perfect for sports, aviation and home use. The CMS 50F also has the ability to store 24 hours of data, which can be uploaded to a computer for analysis if one wishes. This is extremely helpful to aviators who want to monitor their SpO2 and pulse performance during long flights. It includes batteries inside the device. The pulse oximeter can sound an alarm in the following scenarios: when the pulse rate or oxygen saturation drops below a pre-set level, when the oximeter unit isn't correctly positioned on the finger, when the battery level is low. Comes with software for Windows And XP systems PC only.(There's no CD in the package. Please kindly see the package box, there's instructions how to download the software. If you can't find it out, please kindly contact the seller directly through .)

Disappointing in reliability
I've had two of these devices. Some nights it works fine with no issues, except the SpO2 is all over the place even with small movements. Before you get out of bed and walk around, turn off the alarm. Otherwise you will see the SpO2 reading drop to the 80's or below, which is wrong.See the screenshot from last night. I woke up not feeling well, wanted to check the results, and that is what I got. An unreadable chart due to the sensor not reading correctly all night long. The alarm never went off and I had it set to 90%. Surely my oxygen didnt drop to 60% sharply and repeatedly like that all night long. That is incorrect. I have been video recording myself every night to see if I move my arms or something, and I don't. I stayed perfectly still and the sensor still couldnt read correctly. I have two of these devices with two different probes and both of them do this. Very unreliable and dissapointed in these devices. Will not buy again until this is fixed. I'm now searching for a true FDA approved medical-grade device to use at home.

Vital tool for sleep apnea
As a computer geek and a guy with sleep apnea, i have been looking for a way to see if treatments are working - am i getting better. And the thing that most concerns me is oxygen level. So i bought one of these. I can't comment on the alarm because i have not used it (I'm trying to sleep, not be awakened). In terms of the basic measurement functionality i am very happy after two weeks. I wear it for an hour in the evening after work to get a baseline - then i wear it all night to monitor my malfunction. No problem keeping it running on the battery for 8 or 9 hours. No trouble keeping it on my middle finger all night (even though the manual says don't leave it on the same finger for over two hours). However ... don't expect much from the users manual. Fortunately the device is pretty simple and you can figure it out by experiment. Same comment on the software ... once you load it, experiment and figure it out it is pretty simple and very useful. But again, from the perspective of the users manual, you are on your own with the software.

Great for Overnight Oximetry Checks
The unit arrived when promised. I've used it several times over the past two months to record and analyze my SpO2 levels while sleeping. I've compared readings to a professional unit (Nonin) provided by my sleep clinic and found that O2 and Pulse values match. The provided analysis and reporting software (SpO2 Assistant) documentation is horrible, but the functionality I needed was there. I recommend getting the most current software version at the Contec website.Update 7 July 2020:The unit continues to work well. I've used it overnight every two weeks to check my Oxygen levels. The battery life seems to be good, as I can get three or more nights of use before recharging. The usb connector works fine and the display is readable. All things considered, a good value and a useful healthcare tool.I will write a follow-up to this review in several months. I'm curious about battery and display life for this unit., although I don't typically use it more that once a week on average.

Great unit for the price. Have gained lots of info from just a few days of use....
Instructions are a bit bizarre, and to get it to work on a Mac running 10.11.6 is definitely possible by using free 3rd party software but it's not exactly plug and play, but a few extra steps. I read this is FDA approved which is a must if you are looking to buy something like this. Even though it may still have a margin of error, the fact is, you can clearly see trends with this and at this price point, I can fill in the blanks and decide if there are truly issues, but keep in mind NOTHING discussed here replaces going to see your healthcare provider(s)-- they are better equipped to translate the rich data you will get from this device. My main use is to see what is going on after I fall asleep and the device once fully charged easily lasts the night recording the data while I sleep. The detail I am able to get from this pulse/oximeter is nothing short of amazing. Once you get the hang of it, it truly is a useful tool to have if you are in need to know your blood's oxygen levels (and pulse). 1 star less for non-native MacOS support and somewhat cryptic instruction/owners manual....oh yea and the mini-CD (for their software-- remember I used a 3rd party) that won't work on virtually any modern fed CD drive and with many machines not coming with optical drives........

No customer support / Inoperable
No customer support. Product comes with a software disc, which is like one used many years ago. I emailed every address in their product instructions, and asked how to download software, yet did not even get a response. I would be happy to keep it, if I could view my oximeter readings over time, but there is no way you export without the software. Now, after waiting for a response from manufacturer, Amazon is saying it is too late to return?! This is my first review out of 500 purchases in the last year.

Works great with OSCAR open-source software
Once I found the OSCAR software, this did exactly what I needed: it monitored my PulseOx about 22 hr a day (I recharge while taking shower etc). There are a few finicky bits, but if you tell OSCAR to do a few specific things (see below), all is well. ALSO: make sure to only start recording after having uploaded. It erases every time you start a new recording. My OSCAR settings:- Device type CMS50Fv3.7+- Use "Oximeter Import Wizard"- Check all three boxes: Set device date/time, Set device Identifier, Erase device after successful upload

Great for instant use or long term logging of blood oxygen levels
This unit works great for the price. Once you learn how to use the one button to scroll through menu then hold to enter or make a change, it seems to be as good as units that cost much more.

so far, easy to use
So far, this product has been easy to use. It has produced some good reports giving me insights into my Oxygen while sleeping. I was however, disappointed to read in the user manual that this product is only designed to last 3 years. Why not 20? I could be made of sturdier materials, and the overall appearance of the quality of the product appears low. At least it is easy to use!
