Citric Acid to Clean Zojirushi Hot Water Boiler
Review of Viva Doris 2 lb citric acid. Item is fine grade and dissolves easily with warm water and use as intended did produce good results. My first time using Citric Acid to decalcify a Zojirushi hot water boiler that a friend gave me after about 2-3 years of use, the original owner never descaled his boiler throughout the 2-3 years, the build up in the inner lining was significant, the removable filter was completely encased and no water could pass through the filter. Went through the cleaning process (Zojirushi online video) and used an equivalent amount of citric acid (1 ounce/30 grams) two times. First attempt cleaning some improvement, second attempt and let continuous warm overnight and some noticeable improvement, remember the build up in the liner was significant and you could hardly see the printed water demarcations inside the pot. I read online that couple companies recommend 1 ounce per each liter, so my third time I used 3 ounces for about 3.5 liters of water (Zojirushi customer service said more citric acid could cause boil over, I did not have that experience but check the cleaning process as you donโt want to have it boil overโฆ.). major improvement and I may have to process another cleaning cycle. As for this brand of citric acid, it does dissolve quickly (anhydrous) and has cleaned my inner liningโฆhowever, you should consider using bottled water in the boiler to avoid tap hard water calcium buildup and consider a regular cleaning As I mentioned earlier, my metal filter was completely encased with build up and water would not pass through when pressing โdispenseโ. I cleaned the metal filter prior to cleaning the inner liner. Method for cleaning the filter was to soak the filter in lime away until you see a change (soft gel like consistency, clean and re-soak), took 4 days of this processโฆ could buy from Zojirushi for about $10, but the lime away did the trick, and like new. But I hope you donโt let you boiler get to this state, when descaling, pay attention as you are with very hot water.

Excellent for Descaling and Cleaning Stainless Steel
The Viva Doria 100% Pure Citric Acid is an outstanding, cost-effective solution for routine maintenance. The fine grain powder dissolves completely in water, leaving absolutely zero residue behind. It is highly effective at lifting stubborn mineral buildup and hard water scale, restoring a bright, pristine finish to a stainless steel chamber with minimal effort. The resealable standup pouch keeps the contents dry and easy to store between maintenance cycles. Getting a generous 2 lb supply of food-grade purity at such a budget-friendly price point makes this bundle a much smarter, more affordable alternative to buying expensive, pre-measured brand-name cleaning packets.

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ My Opal ice machine got the spa treatment it deserved ๐โ๏ธ I picked up this Viva Doria 100% pure citric acid to clean and descale my GE Opal ice maker, and let me tell you โ it worked wonders. After a few cycles with the citric acid solution, the ice maker went from โmysterious build-up cityโ to sparkling clean, and the ice coming out tastes noticeably fresher (no weird mineral funk). (amazon.com๏ฟผ) The fine grain dissolves easily โ no stubborn clumps, no questionable leftovers โ and itโs food-grade so I felt comfortable cleaning where my ice touches water. A tablespoon or two in a cleaning cycle and my Opal basically got a reset button. โ๏ธ๐ง Whether youโre tackling scale, lingering tastes, or just giving your ice maker some TLC, this citric acid is simple to use and super effective. Now every glass feels like it came straight from a glacier (but refrigerated and way less dramatic).

Citric Acid: The One Product That Actually Handles My Hard Water
This 5โpound bag of Viva Doria citric acid has turned into one of my most reliable cleaning staples. Itโs foodโgrade, fineโgrain, dissolves instantly, and basically fixes every hardโwater problem my house throws at me. I use it for my dishwasher, and it keeps the inside clean without needing extra boosters. It also works great on stainless steel mugs โ coffee and tea stains disappear with almost no effort. From there, it became my goโto for pretty much anything that needs help dealing with mineral buildup. โญ What I use it for: Dishwasher cleaning โ breaks down hardโwater deposits and keeps things fresh. Stainless steel mugs & bottles โ removes stains quickly. Hardโwater stains on faucets โ a simple soak loosens the mineral crust. Shower heads โ unclogs the spray holes after a short soak. Glass shower doors โ helps reduce haze and mineral streaks. Sinks & drain areas โ dissolves chalky buildup. Laundry โ a tiny amount helps soften hard water. Kettles & coffee makers โ works well for mild descaling. Toilet hardโwater rings โ helps break down stubborn deposits. Itโs one of those products that quietly does its job without drama, and the bag lasts forever. If you have hard water, this is the kind of thing you buy once and then wonder why you didnโt buy it sooner.

Use in dishwasher, clean washing machine, add to tea or baking for citrus flavor
I use this in dishwasher and it keeps my plastic from having white residue and keeps the dishwasher clean. I also use a cup of this in my front load washer on the Clean cycle and it effectively removes sludge and odor. If you've used Lemmy Shine, it's just this for more money and this is food grade so you can use it in tea or sauces and baking. 100% need this if you have hard water, use it to descale coffee machines, clean dishwasher, clean washing machine, add to water when handwashing dishes, add some to cleaner to improve effectiveness and a bit of citrus smell. Citric Acid is one of the most underused cleaning products.

Great Fabric Softener Alternative for Laundry
I've been using this citric acid for about two months and have purchased the smaller bags multiple times before recently upgrading to the larger size because it has worked so well for me. I primarily use it in my washing machine's fabric softener compartment, and it does an excellent job softening clothes without the heavy fragrances or residue that many traditional fabric softeners leave behind. Towels, t-shirts, and everyday clothing all come out feeling softer and more comfortable. The powder dissolves well, the product has been consistent from bag to bag, and a little goes a long way. Since I've had such good results with the smaller bags, moving up to the larger size was an easy decision and offers even better value. If you're looking for a simple and effective alternative to traditional fabric softeners, this has been a great option in my experience.

Citric Acid crystals
An unexpectedly brilliant product - usually used for food purposes, but in this case, for de-rusting underused hand tools. It has to be combined with another packeted product, but - amazing results.

Great laundry additive
It replaces fabric softener. Completely brightens the fabric and totally helps rinse out the detergent (plus helps get the stank out of human made fibres) I use two TBSP to about 100 ml warm water, mixed well, and put in the softener dispenser. TRY IT

Cleaned rust
Used to clean rust off of some automotive parts. Thinner steel faster results... thicker steel took longer. Totally dissolved the rust on all items. Cheap and effective when added to another substance
