These Victor rat traps worked exactly as expected. They were very easy to set up, and the wide plastic pedal made them simple to use. The traps are sturdy, reliable, and worked quickly when needed.I also like that there are no chemicals or poisons involved, which gave me peace of mind. Cleanup was straightforward, and the traps can either be reused or disposed of after use.If you’re looking for an effective, easy-to-use rat trap, I would definitely recommend these. They made dealing with the problem much easier, and I would purchase them again.

I’ve used these traps for years because they’ve always been the fastest and most effective, but the quality has definitely gone downhill.The trigger is now extremely sensitive, yet the overall construction feels weaker. The spring still has plenty of force—in fact, it snapped one of the wooden bases in half—but the trigger mechanism doesn’t set properly anymore. The plastic trigger tab tends to slide down and trip the trap on its own, so I have to set the traps on their side just to keep them armed. Even then, you have to hope they stay set.I never thought a simple rat trap could decline in quality, but it really has. I’d gladly pay a little more for the older, sturdier version. The design used to be reliable, and I wish the manufacturer hadn’t cut corners.

Update 10/27The traps are still doing great! I ended up ordering more, and so far they’ve taken out eight rats. I’ve learned that a little adjustment can make a big difference — using a bit more peanut butter and setting the plastic pedal to be less sensitive has worked best at catching the rats that weren’t getting caught before. The main takeaway is that you may need to tweak things a bit depending on the behavior of the rats in your area — some are more skittish or cautious than others.I’ve also noticed that they’ll sometimes change their paths to avoid the traps, so moving them occasionally can help. I have large trees where they seem to live, so I’ve caught more than I first expected, and I plan to keep the traps out for a while. Just be mindful of where you place them, especially if you have kids or pets around.One thing to note: I did have a squirrel trigger a trap once. It didn’t die, and I was able to release it safely, but it’s something to be aware of.Overall, these traps have been very effective, and I can see why so many professionals use them. The traps are very sensitive, which I consider a major plus—it ensures they trigger quickly and cleanly.I’ve found the best baiting method is to put a few small drops of peanut butter in the little bait cup near the base of the pedal. This encourages the rat to step directly on the trigger, resulting in a swift and humane kill.The tension is high, which may seem intense at first, but it’s exactly what you want for an instant result. I did have a couple traps trigger without catching anything early on, but since adjusting the bait amount (less is more), they’ve worked flawlessly.I haven't had these for long, but I could see the staples coming out over time, which hold the spring and kill bar. Once a rat is killed, it's easy to pick it up by the trap, avoiding contact with the rat, and then put in a bag and toss in the trash.Highly recommended if you're looking for a reliable, quick, and environmentally conscious rat trap.

Very effective traps. Caught 10 rats in 48 hours in my mobile. The cold weather brought them in. Made a mix of 50% honey cornbread mix and 50% baking soda with a little sugar and a little bacon fat. What didn't get caught in the traps were eliminated with the home made bait. It is safe around pets. The rats and mice cannot fart so the baking soda causes them to explode internally. Finding them dead outside my trailer too. The plastic pans are way more sensitive than the old ones that had a metal pan. Very touchy and you really have to watch your fingers. Easy to get pinched. I find holding the trap down with my left hand and holding the plastic pan with my right index finger with palm over the metal trap will save your fingers. Got bit on my right index finger till I figured this method out. One side of pan is more sensitive than the other side. It's marked on pan.

Worked like a champ! New fangled plastic ones- fail. Gluey ones- no action. Old tried and true- 2X winner! Problem solved!

I went back to these wooden ones after trying the newer plastc ones out there. These consistently catch more mice as ther trigger more reliably. The plastic ones last no longer than these and some of them did not work out of the box. I think these wooden ones last longer and have a better more reliable mechanism.

Trap was set in late afternoon according to the manufacturer’s instructions. When checked the next morning, it was apparent that the trap had failed and was defective. The staple holding the arm bar had pulled free, rendering the trap useless.The next day a second trap from the same box was set with the same result. Defective product failure. Very sad because Victor had always been my go-to brand for this type of product.

Did what it was supposed to do and it was a huge rat.

As said in other reviews get the M205 not the M205R. Even the M205 spring tends to bend after 7 or 8 goes so get the 12 pack. You'll see the paths the rodents make. I've found putting 2 traps together side-by-side with springs in opposing orientations across the run works. Put loads down and you'll get them. No bait required. I've taken over 40 out in the past week alone. Very effective traps.

Absolutely garbage trap. The plastic does not support the metal bar. Impossible to set up without breaking your fingers…avoid
