Sekonic FLASHMATE L-308X Photographers and Film Makers Exposure Meter - Black/Blue

I have started film photography and this Sekonic Flashmate has been an essential purchase. Some of the retro cameras I have don’t have a light meter. I tried using a phone app but the results were not always consistently good. This Sekonic has been very reliable. It is simple to operate and seems sturdy enough. I would say the price is a little high but it is definitely a quality bit of kit, so worth investing in it.

Use this alongside my vintage SLR and TLR cameras and it works wonders.

Bought one of these, accuracy seems to be ok, build quality questionable as flimsy plastic feel. Relatively simple to understand and use, but it could have been designed from a software point of view a little better and a little clearer. Display a little small and hard to read, need to keep putting reading glasses on. I dropped my first one, onto softish tarmac (the type you get in children's play areas) and although there was not a mark on it, the readings were reversed after the drop i.e. the brighter the light, the larger the f-stop the meter suggested i.e. if meter said f4 during overcast, when the sun comes out the meter then says f2, should be other way around, so knackered basically, had to buy another.

Delivered on time, only small critisism build quality a bit flimsy, however easy to use, very accurate, performance excellent, features also excellent long battery life love it a pleasure to use highly recommended.

Good kit

The light meter seems to work well, I got it mostly for the incident flash metering and that has worked perfectly. The unit itself is quite light even with the batteries installed, and it is small enough to fit in a bigger pocket. It has enough different modes for me and operation is quite simple. Glad I bought it, has made studio flash use a lot easier.

Quite a lightweight but works really well in the studio and also if I’m location shooting outside. Easy to use, accurate - what more do you need?

Questo esposimetro è un vero e proprio strumento professionale, facile da usare ma incredibilmente potente. Pro: Precisione assoluta: Fornisce letture accurate sia in modalità incidente che riflessa. Perfetto per chi scatta in pellicola o vuole una gestione dell’esposizione impeccabile anche nel digitale. Manuale poco approfondito: Per i principianti, le spiegazioni potrebbero non essere abbastanza dettagliate, ma online si trovano molti tutorial utili. In sintesi, il Sekonic L-308X è uno strumento indispensabile per chi vuole il massimo controllo sulla luce, sia in fotografia che nel videomaking. Lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque cerchi un esposimetro affidabile e versatile.

Produto chegou super rápido, fiz a compra dia 13, acredito que ele chegou dia 17 ou 18 aqui em Goiás. Bem embalado, aparentemente está funcionando perfeitamente. Estou contente com a compra até o momento. Muito obrigado ao vendedor pela agilidade.

J’utilise ce posemètre principalement en studio, et il m’a vraiment facilité la vie. La prise en main est rapide. Les réglages sont simples une fois qu’on a compris les options de base. J’ai dû lire la notice au début pour adapter les paramètres à mon boîtier, mais après ça tout devient fluide. La mesure en lumière incidente est très fiable. Les expositions sont plus équilibrées qu’en me fiant uniquement à la mesure interne de l’appareil. Je gagne du temps sur mes séances, surtout avec plusieurs sources de lumière. Moins d’essais, moins de corrections en post-production. Il est compact et léger, donc facile à transporter. La construction est en plastique, ce n’est pas le plus robuste, mais ça reste correct à l’usage. Le prix représente un investissement, mais pour moi c’est un outil indispensable dès qu’on veut un contrôle précis de la lumière.

I'm absolutely glad I bought this tool. Yes, it really is a tool... it makes setting up multiple lights a lot easier than without a light meter. Sure, trial-and-error works too, but it really takes a lot longer to make it perfect than with metering the light. I also bought the Lumidisc add-on, but haven't really used it so far, so maybe that is an unnecessary purchase. What I also ordered, via Amazon.com - as it is not available on Amazon.nl - is a silicone skin to protect the light meter. Ok, the customs fees and import taxes make it quite expensive, but it helps to protect the cheap plastic enclosure of the Sekonic Flashmate L-308X. I can totally recommend this tool to anyone who takes using studio strobes or speedlites seriously.
