Nice Toothbrush!
I have been using a pretty high end Oral-B electric brush for some time and was very happy with it. It recently bit the dust and I wanted to try something different. I had a Sonicare years ago and it seemed just OK. This one, 4100, is not the fanciest of their line but was a reasonable price and I decided to try it. I really like it better than the OB one, it is simpler but also a bit sleeker. The brush head itself is slimmer and seems to get to your back teeth better. The sonic action is pretty amazing, you can feel the superior clean after brushing. The sonic action also gets between the teeth to you can feel it clear to the other side. Again this model doesn't have all the bells and whistles as their top of the line but it has enough and I like the simplicity of it. One thing the Sonicare engineers should consider is put the excess pressure warning light on the other side of the handle so you can see it in the mirror when you are brushing. Not a big deal as the brush kind of stutters if you use too much force. If you sign up for brush head subscription you can get your first brush head for nearly free (1 cent was charge to my credit card) you can then cancel the subscription easily. It doesn't come with any kind of travel case if you are looking for that. I don't think you can go wrong with this brush and it just might get you out of the dentist's chair a bit sooner.

Amazing toothbrush worth every penny
This toothbrush is a game-changer for oral hygiene! It cleans far better than any manual toothbrush Iโve used, leaving my teeth feeling incredibly smooth and fresh after each use. The built-in pressure sensor and timer are great features that help ensure proper brushing technique and time. The battery life is excellent, lasting several weeks on a single charge, which is super convenient. Itโs comfortable to hold and easy to use, making it perfect for everyday use. Just be sure to stock up on extra replacement heads, as youโll definitely want to keep using this amazing toothbrush. Well worth the price!

Life changing!
I used to be a manual toothbrush holder but after I started my Invisalign process, I decided to give electric a go and Iโm never going back! I purchased this item back in October of 2021 and after I dropped it, it started to give me trouble. But after almost 4 years of use, the head started to give me trouble. Iโm sure it would have kept working for me much longer. RIP to my baby, gone but not forgotten. I would have purchased this exact model since if your teeth are fine you donโt need anything special and it gets the job done of keeping your teeth clean and white. I was able to get another model out of luck, but if I didnโt I would have purchased this again. Battery life was amazing too! I charged it once every month or so. Great price, longevity, and gets the job done. Iโm no longer afraid of dental cleanings as with flossing, using electric to ensure all of the plaque is gone, Iโm good to go!. The color pink canโt be beat as well! Also took this in my travels and itโs nice to not worry about your dental health abroad. I would definitely recommend this item if youโre seeking an electric toothbrush that gets the job done well, good battery life, sleek design, and affordable without all of the extra cool but not needed extras of more advanced models :) you wonโt regret it!

Effective at cleaning, lasts about 5 years
After 5 years and 2 months, it broke down. The one before that also lasted 5 years. And Iโm buying a new one because I canโt live without it. Definitely helps keep teeth clean and cavities away. I also still have my wisdom teeth and this toothbrush makes it easy to reach them and keep them clean. I donโt think Iโve had any cavities since I switched from manual to Panasonic toothbrushes 10 years ago.

Decent, but missing features and ongoing costs
It works fine for basic cleaning, but overall feels pretty average compared to other electric toothbrushes. Itโs missing some useful features, and the replacement brush heads are quite expensive. Also not a fan of the charging setup since it basically needs to stay on the charger. Not bad, but I think there are better options for the price.

So worth it
Having had this for about a year, and traveled with it on several road trips now, I'd say this was a very worthwhile investment. I love that it's timed and I don't need to really pay attention to how long I'm brushing my teeth anymore. It's also very comfortable to use and hold compared to some manual toothbrushes. In terms of price, you can get compatible replacement brush heads through Amazon that are non-Phillips which are still high quality and very comfortable. Someone else in the reviews probably worked out the math already, but after a few years you probably will end up saving some money, if you think the initial upfront cost is high. In terms of charge - I rarely need to charge it. Probably once every 2-3 weeks right now. This will depend on the pressure you use to brush, I'd say I use regular pressure. The charger itself is well designed such that the brush stands up, though it can be easy to knock over if you have a mirror cabinet and not much counter space. I've never paid attention to how long it actually takes to charge the brush since I usually just leave it charged until the next time I need to brush. The trips I've taken have all lasted under 1 week, so I typically do a full charge beforehand, and won't actually need to bring the charger. All replacement heads come with a cover, making it very easy to travel with the brush. It's fairly lightweight and a good sturdy form factor to just pop into the front pocket of a backpack. I've never tried other brands but I really think Phillips designed this product really well. There is a lot of color selection, I'm okay with pink which happened to be cheaper than other colors on Amazon. Overall it's a good buy, just get it!

Effective and Less Messy Than Braun Electric Toothbrush
I have used a Braun electric toothbrush for decades. Also, I have supplemented my oral hygiene routine by using a Waterpik. Recently, I decided it was time to once again replace these two devices and was considering the new Sonic-Fusion combined unit. Other than the significant price of the new all in-on-combo unit, I didn't like the fact that the handset was not removable. It was less expensive to purchase two separate devices. Additionally, portability for travel is not possible with the Sonic-Fusion combined unit, which is another very significant negative factor. The decision then came down to Braun vs. Sonic. The Braun advertising always highlights the "round" brush head and I assumed the shape of the Sonic brush would not be as effective. This is a fallacy. The Sonic brush is not large and the shape of the end actually is smaller than the Braun and does allow the user to easily reach difficult areas. The Sonic brush design does not have exposed openings to internal mechanical linkage, which keeps debris out of the shaft. I no longer have toothpaste residue draining down the handle while sitting in the cradle. This was a common problem with my Braun devices. What about the effectiveness of the Sonic? It is absolutely fantastic. I immediately noticed a big improvement and absolutely highly recommend the Philips Sonic Electric Toothbrush! If you use this device in addition to a Waterpik for your daily oral hygiene, your Dentist will likely only get revenue from routine teeth cleanings, check ups and x-rays, not from major, costly and painful procedures!

High quality and effective
This is the Sonicare you know and love. Your dentist loves it, too. It cleans objectively better than a manual toothbrush. I took it on vacation and used it at least twice a day for two weeks without charging it.

Great toothbrush!
I bought these for my family on my dentist's recommendation. It took a bit of research to understand why there were all the different models-- there are so many different ones to choose from. Long story short, look carefully at the toothbrush handle when you are choosing. If you want just a turn on/turn off toothbrush that does everything you need, then the handle should have just one on/off switch, and it will be much more affordable, such as this model. This will time you for your 2 minute brushing and buzz every 30 seconds to let you know to switch to a different area, as all of the other Sonicare brushes do. This model is a simple, affordable brush that does the same cleaning job that more expensive Sonicares do. When you see more switches labelled "clean and white" or "sensitive", it just means that they do different things, and that is what you pay more for. "Clean and white" will just go for an extra 30 seconds, in which time you are supposed to go over your teeth a bit extra for whitening and stain removal. With a regular single-switch toothbrush, you can just turn it on again and go as long as you want, as well, and do the same thing. The "sensitive" setting will just give you a bit less power if you have sensitivity. None of us have ever found this necessary. At first, the sensation of the toothbrush in your mouth is a bit surprising, but you get used to it quickly, and it feels wonderful! It is really true that you get that "fresh-from-the-dentist" clean feeling!! It really is quite shocking how clean your teeth feel! We were good brushers with a regular brush, but the difference was still very noticeable. The toothbrushes come with an Easy Start setting on them which means that they start out a bit lower-powered for the first 14 uses, and then they run at normal speed-- this setting can be turned off. You just need to read the manual to learn how to do this. There are also fancier, more expensive models that will connect to your phone and such, but the basic models brush just the same. One thing I learned to watch for is to read the description carefully, and see what the power of each model is. You can look them up on the Philips site. Some have 31,000 brush strokes per minute, and some have 62,000, for instance. We got the 62,000, and they are great! One thing that we found was that no one told us that a whole family can share one handle. It seems a no-brainer, but I hadn't thought of it! One of the reasons that I didn't buy them years ago was that they were too expensive to buy one for each member of the family, but if I'd known that I could just buy one handle and each person their own toothbrush head, I could have managed that, even with a herd of small children. Nonetheless, we have them, now, though the children are a bit older. I guess they don't want people to only buy one, so they don't advertise this, but it would really be in their best interests to do so, as well as it being in the best interests of the users, as the users' teeth would benefit! I know that our family would've had them years ago if only I had known this. The Philips company would benefit because they would then have little Sonicare users who would grow up to be dedicated adult Sonicare users, and would then pass this on! I know that my children will continue, now, after we've started using them. I do also think that it could definitely help small children have their teeth brushed more effectively, as brushing would be fun, and there is so little skill needed. Another thing to know is that there are many different heads. There are many different basic brush heads which work great, and there is the Diamond Clean, which has tighter-packed bristles to work on staining better. Even the basic brush heads are fantastic, and all fit on any brush handle, so you don't have to keep buying only the same type of head that came with the original package. Watch for sales and they are not nearly so expensive. I recommend using Sonicare brand heads, though. My children and I use the C2 brush head, and my husband uses the Diamond Clean brush head for more stain prevention. Usually, he has staining starting to show soon after a cleaning at the dentist's, but his teeth are still white now, and it's been a few months. What a difference! We would never go back to regular brushes! We love our Sonicare toothbrushes, and these ProtectiveClean 4100 models were just perfect for us-- simple, affordable, and they had nice colours available. We have pink for the ladies and black for the men in our family, but I see that there are other colours. Enjoy your Sonicare toothbrushes-- you'll never go back!! :)
