Does this hammer have a solid one piece head and shaft encased in plastic? Or is the head the only metal part?

From the feel of it, the shaft is metal too. This hammer seems to the twin of (a more expensive) Hultafors hammer, and that's the technique that Hultafors use to make their hammers. I suspect this one might be made for Hultafors for Wiha.

yes, at least that what it said on the packaging. Have had mine some time now and am very pleased. If you do a lot of electrical work and clipping this is the answer to get good results.
