## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this drll a new hole or just enlarge an existing hole?**
A: If you are referring to the Beadalon drill ... it won't drill a new hole and is very poor at enlarging already existing hole in pearls or hard stones. Buy the cheaper one with "diamond" tips ... which are coated with diamond dust and work fairly well.

**Q: What is the largest hole size you can ream with this? I need to ream 3mm diameter holes in a large quantity of stone beads.**
A: HI,,,3mm is pretty big, and I dont have any experience using the reamer for anything other than enlarging existing holes in genuine, not glass, pearls. Why not investigate getting a cordless drill from the hardware store that is designed to take small drill bits. I have one that I use for mother of pearl pieces that come with no holes. Hope this helps. Barb

**Q: How can I get tne cup bur bit?**
A: The “Beadalon Wire Rounder Burr Attachment” is sold separately.

**Q: Is the tip supposed to be seated so loosely as in the one that I got? Or mine is damaged?**
A: No. It's supposed to be tight. If you zoom in on the picture of the product, the lower right hand side, the tip is metal and there is black rubber on the part that gets inserted into the mechanical part of the reamer. Hope that helps. I love mine!

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Right tool for beaders
*by on Reviewed in the United States December 17, 2010*

Some great and inexpensive natural stones are inaccessible to beaders because they are not drilled for the wire typically used in findings, and hand reaming is such a pain. I was constantly tempted to buy a Dremel but the idea of being connected to the entire central power grid system with my right hand while my left hand touches a bead +under water+ always put me off, somehow. And then I ran across this little tool! I just finished drilling 106 five mm stones, moonstones and corals, enough for two small rosaries. Compared to hand drilling, the time spent was negligible, and the power used was not excessive at all: the two AA batteries still tested in the green, almost fully charged, when I finished the two sets of beads. At first, not owning the tweezer-like tool pictured in the packaging to hold the bead, my fingers took some beating, but I took a plain pair of pliers, coated the surface with a single layer of duct tape so that the bead would not be marked, found the right light hold, and that worked fabulously, not coming off under water, and not wearing out at all, apparently. For the rosary maker or beader using any quantity of stones, this is a real find. The entire world of pearls has opened to me, to make beautiful rosaries that give glory to our Mother in heaven.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works very well on pearls

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beadalon Bead Reamer
*by on Reviewed in the United States June 30, 2014*

I bought this reamer to use on polymer beads. I wanted to see if i could wait and put holes in the polymer clay after baking. I wanted to leave the decision of where I wanted hole placement for later after they were baked. Possibly I would not want holes in some beads but rather to use them making wire cages around them.I had read that this bead reamer was only for enlarging holes but I wasn't coming up with a suitable option so decided to purchase and give it a try. Surprisingly, I found I could drill through the baked beads after puncturing a slight indent in the bead. Without a slight puncture it flies out of your hands. I used the baking rack pins from an Amaco bead rack to puncture a small hole. I then used this bead reamer to go through the bead. The bead reamer did sometimes stop but I could easily get the bead off the point and start from the other side or keep working at it and get the bead reamer to work all the way through from one end. It does get stuck after getting through the other side of the clay bead, but that doesn't seem to be a problem as I haven't had a bead i could not remove from the drill tip and the hole made was usable to run wire through. The reamer when stuck stops when under pressure but I haven't found that to be too disturbing. I can reposition and get it going again. Viewed that isn't a bad trait and may be preventing overheating or drilling that isn't productive. A bit more power could be helpful to not get stuck as much. This reamer does work for what I wanted but I found it isn't time effective to wait and put the holes in my polymer clay beads after they are baked. I had thought if it doesn't work for that purpose I might try and return it but after having it for a few days I find that it is coming in handy. I did run into a few beads I had where the holes I had made weren't big enough for the 20 gauge wire I was using. This bead reamer fixed that issue easily. I am using it in a shallow tray of water but for less thick pieces of polymer clay, I think would work easily not dipping in water.Previously i had tried a small inexpensive dremel tool that had no speed adjustments, for bead reaming, but the power was too much and the bead would just fly out of my hand. The power in this bead reamer could be a little stronger, the reason for ranking it with four stars. I do like that it has a start stop push button. Only trick to that - is do not leave the batteries in and toss this in a drawer where the button might get pressed on. That happened to me after I first purchasing; i went to move things in the drawer and the reamer started going. I now take the batteries out of the reamer when I am not using it.
