Like other olight flashlights this thing is awesome! The hands free works well, I wish it had a bit more range as you have to nearly touch it to turn it on and off but I understand why they'd want it pretty limited. It has a good throw and flood. It's become my go to headlamp by far. I wish it could be recharged using the olight magnetic charger disc but that's a very minor thing. One other very minor wish for improvement would be that the light doesn't angle downwards enough, it's close but I wish it would tilt just a bit more downwards. It's still the best headlamp I've had over many years and really enjoy it.

OK, I've had headlamps my whole life. Its small, its bright and it works great. Lights up my entire backyard and works like a little star. Love it! Buy it - you won't be disappointed.

I am a total nerd for illumination products, and have owned many types and many brands throughout the years. Then I found Olight, and the search was off, because I had finally found a brand that spoke to my sense of quality, value, utility, and perfectionism through nailing the details and always looking to improve. Every time that I purchase an Olight product, I know I can depend on getting the very best in design, materials, value, and technology.When I picked up my Olight H16 Wave headlamp, I knew I was getting thoughtful design and state of the art technology, but also a product that would be very intuitive and easy to use. The H16 keeps it super simple to charge with its included micro usb cable and on board charging port. I just plug right in to my power bank, and charge up the latest in battery technology, a lithium polymer battery! This battery offers longer life, longer run times, and more charging cycles, making it the ultimate in current battery technology on the market. The battery pack is conveniently located on the back of the strap to even out and offset weight from the headlamp itself which is on the front of the strap. Smart design. Battery power can be checked by pushing the blue button on the battery pack, and an audible sound will let user know when battery is critically low.The simple theme continues when operating the user interface of the H16 Wave. Simply press the blue button to turn the H16 to high mode of 500 lumens, press again to go to medium mode of 100 lumens, press again to go to low mode of 5 lumens, and press one more time to turn off the H16. While the headlamp is on, hold down the blue button until the H16 flash s once to activate hands free mode. Wave hand in front of sensor to activate and turn lamp on to saved mode. Hold button down while light is on and blinks once to deactivate sensor.Super simple operation and great output have made this my go to supplementary light for my bicycle commutes to work. The combination of the TIR optic and the diffusing lense make this the perfectly balanced beam of light that one has to see to really appreciate. It is awesome, especially when there are two state of the art Cree xp-g3 LED’s driving the H16. If I was using this for camping or backpacking, I would like to see a red led for night vision and so I don’t attract bugs, and would also like to see a lockout function to avoid wasting my battery. However, for my bike commuting application, those features aren’t quite as imperative, so we’re not a deal breaker for me.I am a big fan of using the latest technology available, and Olight is one brand that seems to consistently do this. I really appreciate it after seeing companies like Surefire, Fenix, and Maglite resting on their laurels and brand name power, but not really doing anything to move the industry forward. The H16 Wave by Olight is another shining example of a company that won’t rest until they have created the perfect illumination tools on the planet. I have yet to be disappointed with an Olight product, and after my latest experience with my H16 Wave, I won’t expect to anytime soon.The packaging for the Olight H16 Wave seems to be a more sustainable direction, which I really like. Inside the box is one H16 Wave with LiPo battery pack and headstrap, one micro usb charging cable, and one owners manual.Thank you for reading my review!
