In Scandinavia

I'm not a fan of Satchmo; I was looking for one special song, and it was in this set. I found others that make me glad I bought it. It's a wonderful set of CDs.

This was the near to last contribution to Armstrong's fans from Gösta Hägglöf. The last, I think, was the wonderful CD of early Cotton Club broadcasts which came to be the swan song of his lovely Ambassador label.This four CD set (the CDs are also sold individually) is written and produced with love, and the music is as enchanting as Hägglof's liner notes.One of the shows on this set was repeated by Storyville on their ARMSTRONG BOX, which seems totally incoherent since this set has no more than a year in the market.The last CD on the ARMSTRONG BOX also completes the 1967 Copenhagen concert which is partly presented on CD4 of this set (again, Storyville should have issued that material in a fifth volume of Scandinavian concerts instead of doing this in such an incoherent way).While my opinion of the ARMSTRONG BOX, as told in another review, is not quite favorable for various reasons, this SCANDINAVIAN set is precious.Martin
