Not too flexible and provides a louder sharper tone for yousician lessons. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ How to Prepare These Felt Picks for Your Own Style *by B***N on September 2, 2024* A lot of reviewers don’t seem to understand that these felt picks are impregnated with glue to strengthen them. This means they don’t really bend, except a bit at the cutout. They can be used right out of the envelope, when the edges are square (see photo, the bottom pick). They are louder that way. Remember that it is felt, so there are lots of tiny hairs sticking out, and they are glue-impregnated, so if you put your ear near the strings when picking, you will hear a slight rasping sound, and you may also feel it when you play. That will also slow down your picking a bit. Get an Emory board—fingernail file—and file a bevel onto each side of the end. (See photo, the upper pick). Then use a fingernail buffing file to make that smoother and take off the fuzz you’ve created with the Emory board. This takes a couple minutes of work. Now when you play, you will hear or feel very little rasp. The picking will sound much softer and smoother, and your picking will be faster. The tone will be rounder and fuller than with the pick untouched, but also not as loud. Much more uke tone with less pick noise. I myself prefer a StringJoy Orange Jazz Pick, regular size. It has a very sharp, fast attack, and I also use it on my very expensive guitars for that reason. I also like the Fred Kelly Standard Delrin smooth pick, 0.66mm, which comes in a ten pack, though the ads here don’t mention that. But I use picks to cut through a crowd.
