Decent quality replacement for E6400
The battery life of this extended hours battery as claimed (I shall report back again in a year or so to confirm) is very good, showing some 6hr 50m on the battery monitor symbol (e mails and surfing use). Note that this battery does sick out a bit at the back because it has larger capacity. I picked the mid-range of prices, there are some listed £5 cheaper but I don't buy on price. Clear instructions about not completely discharging (they say 7%), I charge at 10% left indicated. Also don't fully charge to 100% unless you are going to use very soon, if storing (and not in a hot place) for any length of time then charge to 40-50%. So far so very good.

Arrived very quickly.Bought for a Dell Precision 4500.It would be good to include a photo indicating how it extends from the rear of the laptop.Having run this for a few days, capacity is poor at only around 90 minutes. I should have paid more and bought an authentic Dell replacement.

2x batteries, both faulty - powering off at 50% charge
Bought this battery for a dell Precision M4500 fitted with a quad core 920XM processor, 16GB of ram and an SSD.Externally the battery quality is excellent, if anything it fits better to the laptop than the genuine Dell battery it replaces. Plastic looks robust and the battery meter is a nicer design than the genuine Dell battery too.Battery arrived 90% charged. Reported battery life is very good, when fully charged it reports at least a few hours on the windows 7 “balanced” setting (depending on brightness, current processor workload etc).Problems though started when the laptop was used. At around 45% remaining battery capacity the laptop, which had performed absolutely flawlessly until this new battery, suddenly powered off. After re-booting the laptop it would run for a few more minutes before it again suddenly powered off. Both events were logged in the bios as a power interruption problem. After the laptop did this a few more times it then ran quite happily to about 10% battery capacity, when I charged it back to full.I thought initially this might be a memory step within the battery so ran the laptop from full to 10% a few more times. Each time as it got to ~45% capacity the laptop would black screen dead as it suddenly powered off without warning. This didn’t seem to change irrespective of what the machine was doing. It would power off both idling or under heavy processor load.My M4500 laptop is fitted with one of the beefiest processors so I cannot say how well this battery would perform in a machine fitted with a lower wattage processor. But, given my machine would suddenly shut down even when just idling, it does suggest this battery might exhibit the same powering off problems with a lower powered processor. Mine would power off at the same 45% remaining capacity, irrespective of the processor load or system temps. After contacting amazon customer support (who were excellent btw) I ordered an identical replacement DTK battery. This replacment battery ran quite happily to 50% when it too suddenly powered off. After a few charging and discharging cycles it consistently powers off at or around 50%. Bios checks again confirmed a power interruption problem.Just to be sure I have run the laptop on the original Dell battery. Whilst it does not last more than about 40 minutes on the original Dell battery (which is why I was replacing it) the original Dell battery will quite happily run from full capacity right down to 10% without the sudden shutdowns, even when processor is being taxed. The laptop will also still quite happily run all day on mains power. This, I feel, very much confirms that this is a battery problem with the DTK battery and nothing to do with the laptop itself. It is interesting both batteries seem to have a step at around half capacity. Once through this and after a few restarts the battery will then quite happily run to 10% capacity without any further problems and the total duration to discharge matches the windows 7 prediction. Both purchased batteries share this power-off trait and it is not remedied by repeated (multiple tens) of charge-discharge cycles.I contacted amazon about this second battery and again customer service was top notch. So in summary, the DTK battery build quality externally is excellent and reported battery capacity would be great, if only the battery could run from full capacity to discharged without the power problems at or around the 50% discharge.Tests with the original Dell battery and on mains power suggest that this is nothing to do with the laptop having any hardware problems.I would avoid this battery if it was intended for a big processor Dell machine and I’d be cautious even if buying for a low powered machine, given the problems occurred even when my laptop was just idling.I could have been unlucky with the batteries, they might be from the same production run / batch and it was just bad luck, but with two DTK batteries sharing the same fault it certainly suggests something might be fundimentally wrong with this battery design. I am going to buy a different brand now to replace the Dell original.

Good quality after market battery that delivers performance beyond my expectations!
I'm finally happy with an after market battery purchase. After ploughing through many possible offerings across eBay and Amazon, I selected this based on other reviews. It has now been in use for several weeks and is really showing excellent power delivery for my daughter's i7 Dell laptop. I've purchased quite a few laptop batteries in the past and none have come close to what this one is delivering. Very pleased with it and will look to buy again from these guys in the future. This is my first positive product review ever on Amazon, that's how pleased I am with this battery.
