The End of the Story
P**S
compelling and compulsive
I read this book feverishly, almost as it felt it had been written. Many of the incidents had been in Davis' short stories which I love and feel very similar to my own experience. The sense of meaningless ecstasy, embarrassing pain, and self aware recovery were all perfectly described. I was interested in her reflections on writing and memory, work, and friendships. My only reservation was that it seemed a bit too literary at times, but this is hardly a fair criticism of a book about writing.

fascinating
The style is somewhat like the 'Unconsoled' - stream of consciousness - it was very interesting reading and is actually a page turner.

If You've Ever Been There ...
This is a novel you may want to throw out the window, OR you may not be able to put it down ... It takes you someplace you'll probably never want to go again.

Davis is fascinating
As I moved through the novel I was more and more entertained by her alternating confessions of her obsession with her process of writing. Very enjoyable. I'm ready for more novels/essays by her.

Proust meets Knausgaard
Unique story telling. Creative, provocative approach. Ultimately fades.

Very different
Kind of the anti-novel. Interesting in that nothing happens and the people are not dramatized.

Original and Engaging
Inventive novel blending the process of how to tell a story with the heartbreak of the actual story. Answers the question about how one fixes memory.

Rare treat
Ambitious, accomplished and compelling - with a distinctive voice. This novel is both intimate and unflinching - who wouldn't recognise the endless questioning around rejection, the obsessive search for telling details, the turning point, the pain of dealing with 'being left', the physical absence?Rich material cleverly presented - one of my favourite new books this year.

The best short story writer ever this is her only published novel. Perfect reading for a disgruntled spurned lover from her late 20s.

Very clever writing
Self absorbed, revealing, strangely powerful and frankly fascinating exploration of a rather doomed love affair. This writer also writes short stories.
