The diode laser is where this machine shines. Especially because it's portable. It cuts thin wood, engraves wood nicely and marks anodized aluminum. Portraits come out amazing on this machine. The software has a nice polish to it, but it's lacking a lot (like the ability to do variable text). You're limited to how many passes you can do, it even limits lines per millimeter. This machine is lightburn compatible so I have ended up ditching XCS all together with this machine. Overall good for casual hobbiests, but after a few months this machine mostly sits on my shelf in favor of more powerful/compatible machines. The F2 Ultra handles our heavy production work, but the xTool F1 is outstanding for portability and mobile use. Being able to transport a laser engraver this easily and still get clean, professional results is a huge advantage. We use the F1 for on site engraving, events, quick jobs, and situations where bringing a full size machine is not practical. Despite its compact size, the F1 performs extremely well. Engraving quality is sharp and consistent across wood, leather, acrylic, and coated metals.
