Can this be used as a cleaner in the field when catering outside events?

Not sure only used it mainly for Dive equipment.

Once mixed, how long is the solution good for? Do the tabs expire?

Once steramine is mixed with water, it does not expire. It does not lose its effectiveness over time.

It can be used on nonporous surfaces.

I have been using it since mid 2020 at a dilution rate of two pills per gallon of water and have not observed any damage.
