I stumbled upon these as I was doing a bit of research and thought I would give them a try and I'm glad that I did. I ordered a mixed variety pack so I could try a different flavour and decide which was the best. Well that has proved tricky as all the flavours are great. These bars do have a high calorific value but if your exterting yourself you do need to replace those lost calories very quickly especially in endurance sports or events. These bars also have a good amount of protein between 9g and 11g depending on the flavour which is just what your body needs to repair and restore muscles. I tend to eat 1/2 a bar two hours before an endurance event, together with a protein shake, then eat the rest after the event but that's just a personal preference. These bars were nice and moist, not soggy. I don't like these protein bars that are so dry you end up drinking too much liquid to compensate.
