CPR Call Blocker V202-1000 Number Blocking - 200 Pre Programmed - Block All Unwanted PPI Calls At The Touch Of A Button

A few minor gripes but one of the best buys I've made
I had thought of buying the first version of Call Blocker but delayed doing so because we have rather a lot of extensions in our larger than average house. Some of these are connected through an (Orchid PBX308+) exchange and some via DECT phones. This made it difficult to know where to put Call Blocker so that the' Block Now' button could be pressed during a nuisance call. The new (more expensive) V201 model fixes this problem because call blocking can be activated from extensions as well as from the base unit - simply by pressing hash 2 during any call that is not blocked by the pre-programmed numbers. I was a bit concerned that it might not work through the PBX but took a chance and was pleased to find that it does. When a call is blocked the extensions do give a couple of rings before stopping. This may be a function of the PBX or it may happen anyway. I haven't checked this. Both versions of the Call Blocker come with 200 pre-programmed nuisance call numbers and over the three weeks since I installed it I have had only one unwanted call that I have had to block in addition to these. You can also choose to block a variety of different call types: Withheld Numbers; International Callers; VOIP calls; etc. Blocking these groups is Off by default but can be activated individually on set up. If you have regular callers who prefer to withhold their number (I have one) then they can still get through by prefacing their call with 1470.On the negative side the V201 is a rather unattractive bit of kit with a big 'Block Now' push button reminiscent of US traffic sign. Not a problem to me but it might be in a more home elegant than ours. Another thing to be aware of is that the box in which the unit is packed has a compartment labelled 'Lift for cables and accessories'. In fact, when you lift it you find that all it contains is one lead about 9 inches long with an RJ11 plug at either end rather than the two, much longer RJ11/BT leads that I had expected. The instruction book shows a diagram in which the Call Blocker is plugged into an RJ11 Amercan style wall socket. Thinking I had been short changed I call the Customer Care Number and spoke to a very patient lady who pointed out that the instruction book indicates that you need to disconnect the RJ11/BT lead from your main phone and use that between the BT wall socket and the RJ11 socket on the Call Blocker, then use the very short RJ11/RJ11 lead supplied to connect it to the base unit of your master phone. This is fine if you are happy to have the Call Blocker and your master phone sitting side by side but not much use if your master phone happens to be one that has the keypad in the hand set and no base unit. For something costing nearly £60 I feel that the omission of the extra lead was a bit penny-pinching. Hence only 4 stars rather than a narrowly missed 5.These are relatively trivial gripes however and, based on experience so far, I would say that Call Blocker is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

A great upgrade from the V108..!!!
Hi there..Before I go into my review about the Call Blocker. I feel compelled to say something about what I have noticed about the company, just in case no one else has.. They have taken the time to answer ALL reviews (good or bad) and answer any queries one might have about the product. This tells ME that they are a company that stand by their product, care about the product and look after their customers and they should be proud of themselves...Well done guys.!! I had bought the V108 some 2 years ago and I decided to upgrade to the V202 due to the screen and much bigger memory...THe 108 has served me well and this is just as easy to install and use..I'm very pleased.......SO..I bought this V202 from Amazon direct from CPR themselves,( I went for an Unopend Return ) and this saved a lot of money...I got it within 48 hours after ordering..Great delivery.!!..I opened the box and installed it within 2 minutes having had to connect using the Telephone Two socket (I use Panasonic dect)..I also have a Modem filter inline which had no adverse affect at all.....The instruction manual with it, is a doddle to read, which many seem to think they can just ignore (dohhh)..without it you would not know how to block certain numbers and use all the features and codes this little gem has...and it had a few I did not realize, such as blocking individual numbers..and now the added bonus of being able to use your phone itself to block calls without getting out your seat...just tap #2...simple..!!.. It comes with pre loaded nuisance caller numbers..but there are so many out there that it must be nay on impossible to include them all...hence the codes to block your own.. such as 'International'...'caller withheld number'...and 'area codes' to name a few...OH... and one called Spoof numbers..I had never heard of these until I spotted thewm on my screen some time ago and I had 2 in one week.. Most of the numbers (the ones I've mentioned) come turned OFF... just turn on the ones you need.. then sit back and wait..As to individual nuisance callers ( double glazing, patios, surveys, etc etc) couldn't be simpler... just lift the handset (if your not sure who's calling, and as soon as you realize who it is..just press the button on top and they are gone for good.. I kid you not when I tell you that I was having between 2 and 4 calls a day...I've had none since...peace at last.:):)....At this point I'd like to add...... Most of us who surf the net and buy products online are often asked to fill in forms which include our telephone number...I've always given many a false one ...However.. this is not always a good idea as the product your buying may require a true phone number for servicing or verifying your address for delivery, especially on more expensive items.. What I'm trying to say is this.. filling these forms in leave you wide open for cold callers and the such like which is why there has been an increase in nuisance calls... get this device and you won't be bothered anymore...It DOES work and does it simply and beautifully.. Take no notice of the negative reviews,it's mainly because they have set it up wrong or the technology is just to complicated for them...but take it from me.. it's dead easy to use and set up ..There's no need to buy more expensive ones, which by the way are far more complicated and offer no more...Buy the CPR call blocker now if you want a peaceful night and day from those nuisance calls. P.S....If you have friends or relatives that block their number...just tell them to add 1470 in front of your number and they will be allowed through..Cheers
