Bottomless Portafilter 54mm for Sage Rosewood Handle

This is a beautiful portafilter. It feels solid and well-made, and the walnut handle looks great and feels really nice in hand. It fits my Sage Bambino Plus, but in my case it tends to be quite tight when cold and won’t always lock in fully straight away. This isn’t just a first-use issue — even after making around 200 coffees, I still notice it. What I’ve found is that once the machine and portafilter warm up, it locks in much more smoothly. I now run one empty shot before making coffee, which helps heat everything up and makes a noticeable difference. By the time I make a second coffee, it goes in fully without any force. In terms of performance, I’d strongly recommend upgrading to an IMS precision basket. The basket provided with this portafilter can be quite messy and prone to spraying. That said, if you’re going bottomless, you probably already know that puck prep needs to be on point — so a precision basket is a natural next step. As for durability, it feels sturdy and well constructed. I’ve seen reviews of other wooden-handled portafilters where the wood can crack or come loose, but so far this one shows no signs of that. Overall, a great combination of aesthetics and performance — just be aware of the tighter fit when cold and the need to warm it up first. I wouldn’t recommend forcing it into place with extra pressure, as that could damage the group head — it’s better to let it warm up and go in naturally.

Fit perfectly in my Sage Bambino machine, nice and snug. Its Duruable with a lovely handle, It's easy to use and delivers excellent flowing espresso, as long as you get the grind size right and correct grams. 10/10

Lovely portafilter, an extra one so don’t need to wash when making 2 coffees in the morning! Also great weight and quality, fits the machine well

I am happy with the purchase. But it is difficult to put on the Bambino Plus.🙂

Can’t fault this portafilter at all, seems well made, nice wood, locks in to my Lelit E61 really well, perhaps slightly further over than a stock PF but that’s no bother

Great looking Portafilter, Fits my Oracle jet perfectly. would definitely buy again. Used for the first time yesterday and it produces a beautiful cup of coffee time after time. Should have bought a long time ago.

It seems well made, and ha sa nice feel. However, it just doesn't work for a Sage/Breville Dual Boiler. It doesn't seal correctly and coffee splatters everywhere or tracks around the casing, then along the handle onto the floor!

Outstanding tool for an espresso fool. In all seriousness I pull better shots with this in my Breville Oracle Jet than the included Breville portafilter. Think there is just a slightly tighter tolerance. Planning to buy another in a different color as I like a spare for any tool I use often. 10/10!

The portafilter feels sturdy and durable. Feels nice in the hand. The basket is also great. Nice design, looks awesome on the machine.

While this looks like the real deal, heavy and shiny and all, I was rather disappointed. First off, on the first or second day of using it, a small piece of the handle chipped off - I had actually read another review with the same problem and thought that the author was probably clumsy -well they probably weren’t. The included basket is larger and has to be filled with more coffee, probably around 21g which changes the recipe, since the Sage takes 17-18g. This is not mentioned online, only inside the actual box. The main problem is, however, much more serious. Regardless of the basket I used, including the sage original one, there seems to be coffee spur in different directions, as if the portafilter does not tighten correctly. Finally, the basket is so snugly fit, it takes a lot of strength to remove fire cleaning or fitting another one. Overall I should have returned the product, as it was rather expensive.

Product is slightly larger than 54mm. Tamper and distribution tools don't work as well. Plus the fit is very snug.
