I love the feel of this toy in my hands so I know it will feel nice to butter mouthed retriever breeds of dogs who like to carry things around in their mouths. Big , bright orange and bouncy , easy to see in grass or water. My Dalmatian loves toys that dangle and are heavy on one end. She dances around shaking toys vigorously and hits herself in the head. I’m sure this one is safe and won’t hurt her. No nasty rubber smell like a popular brand we know. Big thumbs up! After playing on Christmas Day I’d like to add that the handle is hard plastic and makes it easy for a person to swing the pumpkin around over your head and launch it pretty far outside. But it rained here and this toy is soft enough to throw indoors. A good buy! I’m getting another one for Lily.

I don’t know what this is about. Strange, weird. And cheap quality if YOU COULD FIGURE OUT WHY THE DOG WOULD LIKE IT

My dogs had the rope pulled off with 15 minutes and the rest chewed up within the next hour or two. I guess I didn't realize it was hollow which would make it easier to rip apart.

Quite a few of the dogs we have fostered liked to play fetch and tug of war, so I decided to get this to add to our collection of dog toys. First of all, this toy is meant for larger dogs with big mouths; a Chihuahua or Pug would not be able to get their mouths around the pumpkin part. If you have a dog that fetches and brings the toy back for you to throw it again, you are golden. If, instead, you have a dog that likes to fetch the toy and then take it somewhere to gnaw on it, you have to be careful. The hard plastic handle, while being convenient to hold the toy to toss it, is a source of concern. Being small, it is easy for the dog to get this into its mouth and crunch it to oblivion. The rope, while sturdy looking, would be the other thing the dog would go after. I would like to see this toy redesigned to eliminate the handle and just have a large knot in its place. I did that with this toy and it worked just fine. A better quality rope with a few knots in it would also be appreciated. Those two issues are what made me give this 4 stars. While it is not a bad toy, a few design tweaks would make it a great toy, in my opinion.
