DREO Scale-Inhibitor Cartridge 3-Pack for Humidifiers, Compatible with Dreo Humidifiers HM512S/713/713S/717S, Prevent Mineral Build-up, Filter Hard Water, Eliminate White Dust

I was reluctant to buy these filters beacuse of the reviews complaining that they smelled like fish. Apparently these people haven't smelled fish before because these filters smell nothing like fish to me and I grew up on a lake. There is a definite odor that I noticed when I first installed the filters, but it was more akin to an odor of a t-shirt that hadn't been washed before coming from wherever it was made. It's hard to explain, but it's sort of a sterile manufacturing type smell. Not off-putting at all and kind of faint, but certainly noticeable. That said, it's not an odor that bothers me in the least (it sort of notifies me that the humidifier is on) and I haven't seen any white powder since using the filters. The downside of course is the cost, but don't let the "fish odor" reviews deter you. Anyone that thinks these filters smell like fish are either full of fish or have never smelled a fish.

So glad they make these to go with the humidifier. We have very hard water and it will help to extend the life of the humidifier greatly. They are easy to pop in. Do not affect the output of the humidifier at all. They work great. A little expensive.

I am very glad I took a chance on these filters despite some bad reviews about an odd odor. I was very skeptical about these. But I gave them a try cause the heavy mineral sediment in the water in our area made me give these a try. So far it is working great. I don't notice the white powder covering the unit since installing the cartridge. I also don't notice any kind of unpleasant odor. I am hoping to attach a picture to this review of what this unit looked like before installing the demineralizing filter and what it looks like after 3 days of running with it installed. I will admit that I had gone way over the number of running hours before cleaning. Limescale builds up very fast and the before pic was taken after 2 weeks worth of daily running. Adding an update. I dropped a star and will be trying to contact seller. I bought a second Dreo humidifier, I installed a demineralizing filter to new humidifier and this one doesn't seem to be working. The filter is wrote about in original review is still working beautifully, nowhere residue.

This item really works. It fits perfect. I say a must have add on item. Excellent product.

I had high hopes for the Dreo Demineralization Cartridge, but my experience has been nothing short of disappointing. This product is supposed to help reduce mineral buildup and improve the overall air quality from my humidifier, but it doesn’t deliver on either front. First off, it does absolutely nothing to prevent the buildup of white dust or mineral deposits. I noticed no difference at all in my humidifier’s performance or the amount of dust settling around the room. It’s as if I never even installed the cartridge. For a product that’s supposed to “demineralize,” it certainly fails to live up to its claims. To make matters worse, after just a couple of days of use, I started noticing a strange, unpleasant fishy smell coming from my humidifier. It was so bad that I had to stop using the cartridge entirely. The odor was overpowering and made the room smell terrible, completely defeating the purpose of running a humidifier in the first place. Instead of fresh, clean air, I was left with a room that reeked. Considering the price and the promises made by this product, I feel completely let down. Not only does it fail to do what it’s supposed to, but it actually makes things worse by introducing a foul odor. I wouldn’t recommend the Dreo Demineralization Cartridge to anyone. Save your money and look for a better solution that actually works.

This is a must if you use the dreo humidifier, it prolongs the cleanliness of your unit.

Seems like they work good but time will tell and they are made well

So far so good! Seems to be doing the same as if I bought it from the original sellers website.
