thank you very much for purchasing from us. As to the instructions, please first allow me to say that these are pure natural powders and the method of application greatly depends on the result you are trying to achieve. Henna and indigo powders can produce many different shades depending on whether they are applied separately or mixed as well as on what additional natural products you are adding to the mixture. To find your perfect shade, it would be good to make your own research and see what other products or powders you could add to the mixture (red tea, cassia powder, different oils and similar).

Here are the suggested instructions for application.

If you are looking to achieve black or very dark colour:

Apply indigo AFTER henna. Mix henna powder with tea, coffee, lemon juice or other acidic liquid. You should get a paste with a consistency of thick yoghurt. Allow mixture to cure for a few hours in a warm place (can be done overnight).
Apply henna on clean hair and leave for up to 4 hours depending on the desired result. Wash off with warm water. Do not shampoo for 24 hours as during this time henna pigment will oxide and colour will still be developing. If necessary, use conditioner to wash henna powder off your hair.
Mix organic indigo powder with water and apply to your hair right after washing henna off. Indigo mixture should not be left to cure and should be applied to hair straight away. Leave for 30-60 minutes depending on the desired colour depth.
To wash off, do not shampoo, but use water with a bit of conditioner, if necessary.

If you are looking to achieve different shades of red or brown:

Apply indigo TOGETHER with henna. Add indigo powder into the cured henna mixture RIGHT BEFORE USE. Make a strand test to determine how much indigo you need to add and how long you need to keep the mixture on your hair to achieve the desired shade.
To wash off, do not shampoo, but use water with a bit of conditioner, if necessary.

Will this give me dark brown results on my grey hair?

2 choices.  (a)  Put the red henna on first for 1.5 hours, wash off, put the indigo on next for 1.5 hours.  This will make it very almost black at first, toning down to a very very dark brown in a few days.  or (b) mix them together and put on for 1.5 hours for a mid brown.

Can this be used in beards?

Yes, however you need to consider that while you are using this on your beard, your beard is on your face and as it’s henna you will need to leave the dye on for longer, it does have a smell.
My husband tried it on his beard and thought it was much more of an unpleasant experience then he’d imagined because of the smell. When it’s on my head I can smell it but it’s not close to my nose, please bare that in mind.
However if you want something natural without the chemicals then this is great. Also if you want to achieve a black beard with this, I found I never can on my hair, I get a reddish brown which I’m happy with.

Ladies, how fresh and strong is indigo, if to use a 2-step process, some reviews say it’s not ??
