Fashion Embroidery: Embroidery Techniques and Inspiration for Haute-Couture Clothing

I ordered this book twice and the exchange of book was fast and I was happy with the second item. What brought me too this book, was the words "Fashion Embroidery. . My interest in setting up an embroidery frame again and the modern/historical elegance of the picture on the front of the book. The wording on the back of the book easy; preview of the pictures where sharp and the uniformity of the stitching on each item shown was beautiful, the content page sold the book to me. I always look at picture first, before reading words, the contents page, then seeing the designer. As an amature self taught hand beaded designer many years ago. I was gifted the chance to go to hand and lock a few years ago to do tambour work and gold work. Due to changes did not practice often what I had learnt. I ordered this book as I was inspired to do tambour work and gold work on my own clothes this year. I needed something new to get me started or inspired. Again in the last few months I started looking at books and tapping into making something unique for me. It was only on reading this book in the last couple of days. I realised it was the same talented artist, designer that taught me. The name did not ring a bell it was the picture and style of the gold work in the book and the uniformity and styling of stitching and reading the forward/ instruction. I realised I have invested in a good book, before I cannot get it. The book is detailed, it will help a beginner, student of embroidery or advance needlework artist, designer, Lesage Embroidery followers, will love this book or anyone who likes beautiful work, might pick up some tips to make their embroidery, stand out. My tiny sample attached is on silk dupion with bugle beads, seed beads, sequin, stones and padding to be finished over the next few months. Interesting book, but a shame that the corners are damaged. It wasn't packed properly. Maybe it is due to the fact that many clients are ordering around christmas, but it was the second time now that I got a package that wasn't securely packed!

A beautiful book and very informative

This book is beautiful. The paper is glossy and strong leading to powerful, precise pictures. The text is set at a level where it is neither too condescending nor too simplified. It is set at a level of people who love something they know very little about. As someone who feels they know a lot about fashion, I learnt a lot about embroidery and with the very well set out guide to doing a few stitches felt comfortable to try or try tomorrow. But don’t worry this not a book just about sewing or a beginners guide on stitching. I’ve gained a far greater respect for embroidery and look at garments with a far more educated and appreciative eye. IG: @solidcalm

A fantastic, well written and beautifully illustrated book about the fine art of embroidery. Covers haute couture and catwalk embroidery as well as everyday high street techniques. I’m looking forward to applying my new knowledge to my own projects.

A beautiful book, arriving earlier than expected, which is always good. How good is this book? I have had trouble getting it back from my non-embroidering husbandand! The photographs are stunning; the descriptions and explanations clear; the exercises and projects achievable. What more can I say? No matter the reason you got this book, sit down quietly with a cup of tea, coffee or glass of whatever you fancy, read this book, re-read it, then have a go yourselves. It's not just for those of us who embroider, make clothes or just fancy learning about the subject, or saw it and picked it up because it looked interesting. This book is for EVERYONE! Enjoy!

I love the quality of this book and the content is great - yet to follow the instructions but I love this book, well worth the money

Thier are simple stitches in book n tell how is use it for couture.

Great full color photos with the first half being examples of fashion embroidery with explainations of the type use for the effect, the second half goes over how to hold the hook, make the stitch, cast on and cast off. It goes over several 3D applications and fabric prep. It does not go into detail about framing or stretching fabric. Great book for ideas of what tambour can do in textiles.
