Cavendish & Harvey | Sour Lemon Hard Candy Drops | 5.3 Ounce Tin

Everybody loves the lemon flavor, sweet and sour, quality.

I’ve posted a couple half hearted reviews of a couple different Cavendish & Harvey candies. They’ve all been five star because C&H is a top notch candy company, but they didn’t really trip my trigger like the lemon drops. Cavendish & Harvey Sour Lemon Drops stand apart. Cavendish & Harvey’s, Sour Lemon Drops are the absolute best hard lemon candies on the market. How do I know? Because I’ve tried them all…seriously. I googled “LEMON DROPS” and bought one of everything that populated the search and nothing even came close the natural lemon taste and overall flavor of the Cavendish & Harvey candies. I want an automatic order for these. I love them more than bacon, more than beer, and almost as much as whisky.

Taste: The candies have a good lemon flavor that lasts from start to finish without just turning into generic sweet flavor part way through like a lot of hard candies. It's pleasant, sour in the sense that slightly undersweetened lemonade may be sour, but it is not sour sour. If you're looking for something like a Warhead or Toxic Waste candy, these aren't it, so you'll be quite disappointed in that regard. Appearance: They're about the same size as a cap for your typical bottle of soda, though about 3/4th as thick, and slightly indented in the middle, with the color of the inside of a lemon, and the typical smoothness of a hard candy. They come dusted with some white powder (not the good kind) that is a bit sweet, not unpleasant, but it doesn't really add anything. Overall, a top-tier piece of lemon candy that's a good price for the quality of the product and amount. If you're looking for something super sour, you won't find it here, but if you want just a hint of the sourness of eating a lemon, this is it.

These drops have excellent lemon flavor from real lemon juice. The tin is bigger than you'd think, and the candies are packaged with confectioner's sugar to prevent their adsorbing water from the air. They're also made without artificial flavors or colors, which makes me really want to love them. However, they suffer from 2 problems, one minor and one major. First, they're not particularly sour. I'd say they're just regular lemon drops rather than sour lemon drops. It's a bit of a nitpick about the naming, but since lemon itself is already sour, I'd expect "sour lemon" to be extra sour. The major issue, though, is these candies are rather dangerous to eat. They have somewhat large air bubbles, and when sucking on the candies, the air bubbles form extremely sharp edges on the candies. I've cut my tongue a couple of times just by moving the candy around in my mouth, and the sharp pain and sudden taste of blood really detract from the experience. As it stands, the bubbles will cost 2 stars, but Cavendish and Harvey can get rid of the bubbles, I'd happily give a full 5 stars.

Yeah right, pack of 12. You only get pack of one! Total false advertising. O.K. went up to 3 stars. Company refunded my money immediately and posted apology. Thank you.
