I am so happy with this HOB. I have two others that are this size but by different brands-the others are so noisy. This Nicrew filter is silent.It does a great job.It has an easy to use variability knob.It has a sponge prefilter (awesome to save flowy fins, baby shrimp or frog legs.)I am currently using it on a 4.12 rimless cube for a betta.

This filter works perfect for a little Top Fin 3 gallon tank. I have a small tank set up for Corydora fry and needed a decent filter with an intake pipe. The filter that came with the aqaurium was trash, and I did not like it. It pulled from the bottom and kept sucking fry up. The first replacement filter that I got did not have a place for carbon or any type of sponge. This one is seriously perfect. It has a carbon cartridge with a sponge and also a sponge filter for the intake. It helps pre-filter AND keeps from sucking anyone up. The replacement cartridges are not expensive (6 for $9.99 or 12 for $14.99). It is very easy to clean and does not make any splashing sounds. It has a big enough area to add your own media, if needed. The carbon keeps everything circulating to avoid any funky smells.*I just put it in before taking photos, so the tank is not the cleanest.

Not the easiest/quickest to prime. I'd recommend replacing pre-filter. I modified the cartridge filter to use as a hold back for a custom bag filter. Very easy to clean!! Small size and limited water flow. Works well in my 4 gallon tank though.

A wonderful filter! Doesn't sit level great on round tanks, but for mine i just stuck some poster tack and leveled it out and it worked better! It's very quiet and I can't hear it right next to my bed when I'm trying to sleep. I originally bought this for my shrimp tank, so the intake cover was a great feature to stop the shrimp from living inside the filter or getting hurt. Excellent quality for the price of the filter. Much more than I even expected!

I am highly impressed with the quality of these filters. I ordered two since I'm setting up two 3.4 gallon betta tanks. For the price, I fully expected them to feel cheap and plasticy, with that kind of poorly done hinge that you'd find on a filter that comes with those "all in one: fish tank, light, bubbler, filter, heater" sets. The instructions are clear and concise. They're clean and have no smell. They advocate for proper cord safety, encouraging the use of a drip loop to prevent electrical hazards which is appreciated from a company that doesn't have to care. These things are QUIET. I'm writing this while they're priming right now and it literally only took a second. One note on the construction, they do require tweezers (or tiny hands I guess) to remove part of the filter if it gets gummed up. So probably toss a pair of those on your order if you do go for this filter. Generally I don't leave reviews, but it's refreshing to find an effective and cheap product that seems to be manufactured by a company that actually cares about a good product. I know how this sounds, unfortunately though this is not a paid review lol.

I really love how quiet this filter is. And it gives just the right amount waterflow for my two and a half gallon nano tank. The first one I purchased lasted for a year. When it died, I repurchased a new one that only lasted four months. It died just after the amazon return window. I thought maybe I got a dud, so I went ahead and ordered a replacement. The replacement died after four days. I'm not sure how to feel about this filter anymore.

Not very loud on noise. It seems like good quality but who knows i just got it . There’s no odor upon opening. It’s only been a day or so but the stability seems good . it’s easy to clean . Just rinse. And it’s very effective for the price. Within a few hours my water cleared up

Stopped working within 24hrs. Noticed my thermostat temperature creeping up, was set at 27 and ended up at 30 which means this pump over heated and affected the tank water temperature also! And I bought 2 for 2 tanks both exactly same and stopped working.

This product is one of the worst products I have bought. If you need my evaluation, I will give it a bad evaluation because it broke down in the first week and when I started using the product, it was very hot. I do not advise people to buy it and I advise them to buy any other product.

Great little water pump—easy to install, very quiet, and keeps the water flowing nicely. My fish seems more active and comfortable, so it’s definitely doing its job! I just wish it was usb connection.
