The Good Points- These boots are nice looking

*by T***D on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 3, 2015*

The Good Points- These boots are nice looking, very light with an almost 'athletic shoe fit', they're perfectly waterproof, warmer than I need them to be (good and bad), and show only minimal signs of wear after working full time in them all winter! I'm a lot attendant at a large car lot, and walk on pavement an average of 5-7 miles a day; sometimes 10-12. Also, they're very warm, as I mentioned before, and I've done NOTHING to disinfect them ALL winter long. Even considering that, they really don't stink very badly at all! So I'm impressed with those points....OH, and all this for $100! :DThe Bad Points- They're squeakier than I'd like them to be. Which means, the squeaking is easily heard... It sounds like the leather flexes under the tension of the strings when the toe flexes as I walk. :-(It's not really noticeable outside, but it's very annoying when I walk around the house in them. :/ Some would say, 'Take off your shoes when you come inside', but the soles of my feet are such that I need the support[prescription orthotics] and padding. Also, I'm in and out too often to be taking my boots off every time I come back inside... :/ Additionally, the design of the sole is not typical of a standard anti-slip tread pattern; which would've made more sense, given their intended use. I's not deep or significantly edgy at all. The lack of corners seems to promote a slipperiness to them that bothers me a bit as well. Most 'snow boots' have a sole patterned after that of a snow tire, which is what I prefer. That said, they're design is nice on ice free pavement. All in all, I would recommend these boots...

Everything I've ever wanted in a boot

*by G***X on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 25, 2012*

This boot is like walking on a heated cloud while the rest of your body is freezing to death. It is very comfortable, is high enough to keep out snow, and has done a great job keeping out water. It really has been a pleasure walking around in these. They make you feel semi invincible to the snow below. The insides of the uppers are a nice soft fuzzy material that feel comfortable around your ankles. The laces are round and can come unknotted at times, so just double knot them. They seem to have good traction. My only counsel is to make sure you get the right size. I went to a brick and mortar store originally and found these boots. I wear a 12 or a 13 depending on the brand. I tried on a 12 but my toenail would contact the front of the footbed during my walking motion. I tried on the 13 and they were just too mushy. So I searched Amazon and found they had these boots in a 12.5. I wasn't sure if they would work, but I ordered them. Sure enough, they worked perfectly. So, if you get these boots and they seem a little too mushy, or if your toe contacts the front of the foot bed (you want there to be some dead air for insulation and to avoid aggravating your toe), keep in mind that it may not be the last of this boot, but rather the size.I fully recommend this boot. I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions I can help with, feel free to leave a comment.

    Awesome boots!

*by A***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 18, 2017*

Took this boot to Ice House Canyon to break it in and I'm glad I did because the snow started from the trail head which is something I haven't seen in a long time. My feet were warm and dry for the whole hike but I found just like in posts from others the laces are slick and come loose easily. I wish I would have learned about using the surgeons knot before the hike as it would have prevented the heel blisters that I got. Also the toe are is very well protected but because they are your toes will not like getting slammed into them on down hills like mine did because the laces came loose using regular lacing. *** SURGEONS KNOT! ***Pros:Salomon is known for their wide toe box and this boot is no exception which works great for me. The boot is also very light for a boot, not trail runner light but very light. The cushioning is great and I didn't feel any of the sharp points from the numerous rocks at the trail head.Cons:Laces are slick, if you don't know what a surgeons knot is I've included a pic.
