Pelindaba's Lavender Algae Inhibitor is based on research conducted by the Center for Aquatic Plant Management in England. Completely organic in its formulation, the Algae Inhibitor will not harm other pond vegetation or fish. The combination of barley straw and lavender stalks will control algae in bodies of water ranging from small garden ponds to large reservoirs. It does not kill algae already present, instead it prevents the growth of new algal cells. Currently Washington Water Services uses our Lavender Algae Inhibitorsª to control algae in the Rosario Reservoir on Orcas Island, WA. We also use them to great success in our pond at the Farm. Suspend in upper levels of pond water, preferably near the point of maximum water movement or inflow. A water bottle tied to the bale and filled with water will act as a weight until the bale becomes water-logged, then empty the water bottle and use a float. Do not let the Algae Inhibitorª sink. Should be replaced twice a year, in spring and fall, for optimum efficacy. See data sheet shipped with the product for more complete instructions. Our small Lavender Algae Inhibitorª will be effective in bodies of water up to 400 sq ft surface area. More than one is usually required where water is still and in direct sunlight as still, warm water promotes algae growth. Contains barley straw and our own organic lavender stalks. 1/2 pound bundles.
