Chinese Ceramics: Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection
J**N
a compact review of the premier collection of chinese ceramics in the western world.
This small and inexpensive volume is a beautiful introduction to the Percival David collection of chinese ceramics.Sir Percival's extensive collection was originally housed at the University of London, but for the last ten years, it has been on view in its own, exquisitely displayed and lighted gallery at the British Museum, also in London. The examples are well chosen and explained in regard to historical period, kiln, glaze and other aesthetic qualities. The book is a great introduction to a magnificent collection of Chinese ceramics, possibly the best in the West.

I love this book
I love this book! I ordered 2 copies, 1 for my friend and 1 for myself. The books arrived in excellent condition. Both the picture and print qualities are super. I just wish they had more selections than what they have in this book. A great book to keep, if you are interested in Chinese ceramics.

Highlights of the Sir Percival David Collection
A light reading on what makes Sir Percival David the most famous and successful Chinese antique porcelain collector of our time. The quality of his collection is just incredible! Although this is a small catalog type of book, the quality of the pictures are among the best you can find for Chinese antique porcelains - the colors reflect the pieces very faithfully. You can really appreciate the beauty of these wonderful porcelain pieces through this book. I just wish the pictures can be bigger. However, I guess that won't be a light book any more.Julian

Chinese Ceramics by Krahi
Excellent sample guide to Chinese ceramics in the Percival David Collection. A perfect companion to the Imperial Taste catalogue of the collection.

Excellent Overview
This book published by the British Museum is a beautifully photographed, though brief, overview of this very important Chinese ceramic collection. The selection of material presented emphasizes the depth and importance of the collection of the Sir Percival David Collection that is now housed in the British Museum. One can only hope that a complete catalogue of this collection will be published in the near future.

Lovely pictures and descriptions
I love visiting the British Museums collections and was very pleased to see and purchase this book. The images are lovely and the descriptions and history very informative. I just wish there were more pictures at different angles and perhaps some more close up detail shots, particularly of the very subtle incised patterns etc.

Chinese Ceramics
Two scholars of Chinese ceramics have written on the late Sir Percival David's priceless collection, newly housed in London's British Musuem. Highlights of the collection are documented in this easy to read, informative, beautifully illustrated and very reasonable publication.

A small scale coffee-table book
This book is useful as a small taster for what is in the Percival David collection, now in the British Museum. Serious students would be advised to look elsewhere, however.
