Expensive but works.
Only just started using. Before buying read some had issues with small plants breaking which worried me since I bought to try to keep bitter sweet, Japanese rose, and wild blackberry under control. Plants 3/8 and bigger were pretty easy with only a few stripping and breaking. Smaller plants with strong roots are not as successful but I think got more then 50% with root. For how much easier this is then other ways I’ve tried it is worth it though I think is expensive for what it is.I found on smaller plants putting some weight on where the 2 parts come together helped get better grip lowering the amount of sliding up the plant and breaking.Glad I purchased the big one since I found it easier to get on thorny brambles.

Amazing leverage, just make sure you brace yourself for the fall when the roots give way!
The media could not be loaded. Outstanding. I ordered the largest version and it came this morning and I've been uprooting buckthorn since. Cleanly pulls everything from pencil stems up to the widest I could get the jaws around (~2" diameter buckthorn; see pic). Couldn't be happier. $395 is steep for a hand tool, but I have no regrets on the value here.

Well built , very sturdy
It works well on privet and especially on honeysuckle. So far, I've had no success with small trees with over an inch or 1.5 inch diameter, they're too strong. 2 inches max diameter might be pushing it, it's very close. I'm 6 ft and 200 lb and I can't pull out anything that big, even by bouncing on it with all my weight. It cuts the time down by half at least, maybe 4x. The amount of effort required drops by 10x, no exaggeration. It's pretty satisfying to use too.I've had good results so far with a slow, steady pull. It grips surprisingly small stuff too but those tend to snap more often than not. I think $400 is a bit high but I wasn't able to find anything close to this. However, there's a good chance I will be dead before this thing breaks.

Outstanding addition
I bought this took to respond to a very pervasive problem. While I was overseas, I had a tenant in my house. They did not take care of my flower beds and this resulted in many beds having 8’+ trees upon me growing back. The flower beds are bricked in so this makes digging the trees out very difficult. This tool is study, well built, and durable. It is relatively easy to use and I’ve used it to rip at least 30 trees ranging from 4’ to 10’ from my flower beds so far. Even my neighbor watched in amazement at how well this product worked. You obviously still have to be strong enough to force the leverage, but I love my purchase.

False advertising
I thought it was strange no one was being critical of this tool. There’s a lot not mentioned by the listing. You need to be strong enough to use this. Use by the elderly is nonsense. The “high-quality durable, rust-resistant coating” will scratch off immediately, so it’s NOT for “passing down for generations.” Trunks must be thick enough to not be chopped clean by the jaws. Be real, this is an extremely expensive tool for an open field use case. Trees must be loaded from the left, so if you’re a homeowner with a pesky growth in a tight space, good luck. I am returning, will update this review with that interaction soon.

⭐️✨This is a 15 star tool💫🌟
I am reclaiming briar, blackberry, and scotch broom infested land. In the Pacific Northwest we are always fighting these invasive species, plus keeping fir and alder in check. I refuse to use chemicals and wanted a tool rather than a brush grabber that needed to be hooked up to a quad. Oh, yeah…. I am 69 and do this stuff myself😊. By the time I paid sales tax this was in the neighborhood of $540! This is not an amount of money to sneeze at! I looked for reviews about blackberry root balls etc… and didn’t see anything about the type of clearing I intended to use it for. Soooooo. I was nervous and super excited for it to arrive! It is worth every penny!!!!! I have pulled blackberry root balls, fir starts, briar root systems, scotch broom weeds!!!!! The important thing to know is it was with minimal effort. The things I pulled came out like butter!😊 It would have been hours of backbreaking digging with a mattock and hours of additional root pulling just to accomplish what I did today “test driving” the tool for 15 minutes. It was carefully shipped and is a sturdy substantial tool you will have and use for life! I am a very pleased customer who’s an older woman! If I can use it you can too! I would give this item 15 stars if I could!

Very powerful
Holding up well, does the job exactly as needed. Works a little bit better if the ground is slightly damp, such as after the rain. Can be a little bit tricky to engage the pinching mechanism with the tree root, but works very well.
