iFixit Anti-Clamp Opening Tool for Phones and Tablets

Sooo much easier than using a loose suction cup or slowly prying each edge hoping you don't shatter the glass or break something....I used this on my old Note10+ It has never been apart before. I put it under a heat gun for about 25 seconds and the whole back practically fell off using the anti clamp.... Now this is an older phone so the adhesive probably wasn't as strong anymore, but still. When the whole back came off in one tiny twist I was super happy... I shattered the corner of the glass of my S24 Ultra because old suction cup I was using slipped. Definitely worth grabbing...Cheap and works.

IFixit ALWAYS amazes me and this anti-clip opening tool is no exception. Only iFixit would reverse the action of a clamp to pull away instead of push together and the idea (not to mention the tool that embodies it) that made it possible. Think of it as you would your fingers when opening a cookie (without the twisting part) and you have an idea of how this to works. It’s strong, durable, and easy to use. Don't let its compact size fool you, it’s much more capable than it looks. It makes even the most difficult jobs a little easier. Personally, I think it’s great. It does making opening stubborn devices a lot easier and minimizes breakage, too. If you disassemble cell phones or tablets, you want one of these in your toolbox.

I used this item to open an iPhone 12 mini. It was definitely easier than using suction cups, but this still was not a simple task. It took me several attempts before I was able to finally open the phone. I have replaced batteries on an iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and never damaged the screen. But somehow I managed to damage the screen on this phone (I am not 100% certain if this device was the culprit or if I did something bad. The ribbon cable was not damaged, but the screen had a giant vertical rainbow stripe about 1/4 inch wide. Also when attempting to open, the phone tends to slide on the the device as well, meaning that you often have to keep resetting the phone on the device. Finally, the handle that "locks" the screw mechanism into the "open" state often pops back to the neutral state. Overall this is useful, but not perfect.

I have to admit, I had my doubts on how well this clamp would work, but now I'm a firm believer! Once clamped onto your phone (I used the adhesive sticker supplied with this kit onto the back of my phone), just use an ordinary hair dryer along with a few drops of isopropyl alcohol along the edges, and sure enough , the screen will start to come loose. If you're planning on opening up your iPhone to swap out your battery, screen or whatever it might be, this is a MUST HAVE!

I am a beginner in phone repair, and can confidently say this item is a must-have! While slightly expensive, it is definitely worth every penny. It is easy to use once you learn how to, and it makes screen removal and back glass removal super easy! Make sure you apply heat to the device to soften the adhesive, or you'll have a difficult time!

Doesn't stick to anything... Doesn't work

I have done many repairs over the years on my iPads. Removing the screen is the hardest part. If you’re not careful you can crack it or or damage the circuits underneath. Used in conjunction with a heating pad designed for electronics, this clamp makes the screen process very simple and save. Once you warm up the screen area with the pad, the clamp easily attaches to the front and back of the iPad. Turning the screw draws the arms with the attached suction cups apart, and carefully lifts the screen away from the glue strips. Must have even if you repair one iPad.

Attempted to use this on a recent repair for my business thinking it would make the process easier, but it did not... The repair was for an iPad 5 Mini, and the clamp almost broke before it even came close to lifting the screen. Honestly kind of mad I spent almost $30 on this thing. For phones, it might be great, I haven't tried it on a phone yet, but I will here soon, as I have an iPhone 13 Pro scheduled to come in for a charger port replacement. Will update review as to how well it opens a phone..... Update after using on a phone: Literally a waste of $30. The suction cup on the back of the phone pops off long before it has enough pressure to start lifting a screen. Absolute rip off of a product. Do not buy this. Just use some microfiber cloth, and some clamps, and a regular suction cup, and don't waste your money....

Sehr hilfreiches Tool ohne dem ich wohl nicht mein 5 Jahre altes iPhone öffnen hätte können. Das Tool ging schon an seine grenzen und rutschte Manchmal vom Gerät runter oder die Saugnäpfe liesen los. Dennoch war es wirklich sehr hilfreich, da ich mit normalen Saugnäpfen das alte iPhone gar nicht öffnen konnte. Bei älteren Geräten ist der Kleber so angetrocknet dass er kaum loslassen will. Wie manche Nutzer es geschafft haben das Tool von iFixit zu beschädigen ist mir ein rätsel. Davor reißt der Kontakt zum Display ab oder aber das Display bricht. Wichtig bei der Verwendung: Anleitung befolgen, immer nur 1/4 oder max. 1/2 Umdrehung und dann erhitzen und kurz warten. Wenn man da voll reinschraubt als wäre das ein Schraubstock dann wird sicherlich irgendwas zu Bruch gehen. :P

El iFixit Anti-Clamp es una herramienta imprescindible para abrir dispositivos sin esfuerzo. Las ventosas tienen buena succión y el mecanismo de presión facilita separar pantallas sin riesgo de romperlas. Lo he usado en varios teléfonos y tablets, y funciona de maravilla. Es un poco caro, pero si te dedicas a reparar dispositivos, vale la pena. Mucho más seguro y práctico que usar solo una púa o una ventosa común. Lo recomiendo.
