The Ballad of Lefty Brown [Blu-ray]

NOT BAD AT ALL! GREAT ACTORS AND A GREAT STORY!

This movie had the quality of the old John Wayne movies. It reminded me of the Searchers. Had many interesting characters just like that classic did. They even referred to a account from some pulp fiction book that sounded like the Searchers. Only difference was they weren't able to rescue the girl. In fact Peter Fonda sounded like John Wayne. It was great seeing him in this movie. Sad his part was short lived. Pullman did a great job. All the actors did great. Hats off to Frank and Jeremiah. They made the story real. Tom was a classic character. I just couldn't figure out why Harrah didn't tell everybody who the real killer was before he was shot down. As for the reviewers that said the movie was to slow... don't believe them. The moments that I think they thought were slow was there to meditate on the real emotion and heartbreak these characters were facing. They kept going against impossible odds to bring the truth out. Any normal person would just have ran and gone to Mexico. Lefty just kept running towards the truth no matter how dangerous it was. Sad to say in real life the killers would have gotten away with it and lived a long life. It is just a movie so we hope Lefty finally found peace somewhere in Mexico. I think this movie deserves more accolades than it probably will ever get.

This movie is loaded with top-notch actors. The story of betrayal and the search for true justice rings true in today's world.

Great Movie! Got a little slow in a couple of parts, but really good.

Decent story, good characters and great scenery, but the writing left a quite a bit to be desired. There were times that it just felt like characters were saying things that you wouldn't say or at least not the way you would say them in real life. I love westerns and hate cheesy ones. This is not cheesy and is entertaining, but Godless, Unforgiven or Open Range it is not. It is a far cry from what usually calls itself a western, I just expect more and would like to have seen it done better.

This movie has heart, its not one of the best westerns out there but it offers a unique story to the genre that's well written with a solid cast. Bill Pullman is excellent as Lefty Brown, a perceived fool with a reputation of cowardice who, without knowing it, embarks on an unexpected journey of redemption and revenge. A 60 year old man of seemingly no significance, Lefty Brown's only saving grace is being the long time best friend and partner to a rancher who later becomes the Senator of Montana. In the midst of tracking down a part of their heard that mysteriously goes missing, things quickly take a turn for the worst for Lefty and the Senator, leaving Lefty faced with questions he can't answer. As Lefty rides to discover the truth, he's forced to find his courage or die like the coward he's believed to be. 9/10 western, would watch again.

I don't watch many Westerns, let alone watch one twice--as I did this movie. It's a great Western--but a lot more than that. It may seem to start off a little slow, but stick with it. It has to be this way, because the plot and characters develop as the movie goes on. Don't worry, you'll soon get plenty of action and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat at times. Lefty is a lot more than the Gabby Hayes-like character he seems to be in the beginning, but it turns out that nobody, and the circumstances, are what they seem to be initially. All the performances are good, but Bill Pullman is marvelous! His would have been an Oscar-winning performance if this movie had received the attention it deserved.

Quite entertaining. Makes me want to watch more Westerns! Bill Pullman was excellent in this film.

I hadn't heard of this film before,it was recommended to me by Amazon via email. I'm so glad that I ordered it as it is a great film to sit back and enjoy. Would recommend to anyone who likes western twist films. Very enjoyable 5 ***** for me.

Acquistato per un regalo ad un parente,appassionato di film western, che ha gradito molto. Avendolo visionato insieme posso dare il mio giudizio. Anche se i western moderni non sono ai livelli di quelli passati non è il caso de "La Ballata di Lefty Brown", trama godevole, recitazione ottima e fotografia stupenda. In questo film i paesaggi sono davvero mozzafiato e, come già detto in precedenza, la fotografia è spettacolare poiché mette in risalto la vastità e la bellezza dei luoghi. Colonna sonora di buon livello, l'unica pecca è la mancanza del doppiaggio e dei sottotitoli in italiano che potrebbe essere un disvantaggio per le persone senza una buona padronanza della lingua inglese. I sottotitoli in lingua originale sono comprensibili e seguono fedelmente il parlato.
