Walk with soul in the New Balance 877. Combining a vintage suede/mesh upper with modern technology, this shoe has heritage and heart. New Balance, is dedicated to helping athletes achieve their goals. It's been their mission for more than a century. It's why they don't spend money on celebrity endorsements. They spend it on research and development. It's why they don't design products to fit an image. They design them to fit. New Balance is driven to make the finest shoes for the same reason athletes lace them up: to achieve the very best. Review: I’ve Been Wearing the 877 For Eight Years - I’ve worn the 877 for 8 years. Each year I buy another pair and rotate them on a weekly basis. I still have and wear my original pair. As other reviewers have mentioned, these shoes are now being made in Vietnam. In my photo, the shoe label on the left is a three year old shoe and it was “assembled in the US.” The shoe on the right is one I got this week. It says “made in Vietnam.” I wish they were still made here but the Vietnam made shoes are still true to size. They always fit properly and the pair I just got seems to have more support in the heel. I need that because I am susceptible to gout and need a soft shoe that provides good support. I haven’t had a gout attack since I started wearing the 877. Other reviewers have said they look like old man shoes. I think they look OK. The gray color goes with any clothes and they can be worn with any outfit. They are very comfortable to walk in and I walk 3 miles a day. The 877 holds up quite well. They are not waterproof so be careful to avoid puddles. I have had a couple of pairs come with laces that were way too long. I try to work around this by making an extra large loop when I tie them. The last two pairs that I ordered, the made in Vietnam ones, have laces that are the right length. Other reviewers have mentioned that the toe box is too narrow. I haven’t encountered this problem. I wear size 8D, which is smaller than the size worn by most of the reviewers who complain about a narrow toe box. There hasn’t been any drop off in quality since I first started wearing the 877 eight years ago. The newer ones seem to made a little differently, but I haven’t had any problems with mine. I highly recommend that 877 for anyone who needs a good walking shoe that can be worn all day long and which can hold up to long walks. Review: True to size, light weight and look good - great for walking or standing. - Nice shoes - they look as good as they do in the photo, they're well-made, light weight, and they fit my wide feet as expected/hoped. True-to-size. This particular model is not made for off-road, so don't order it with that expectation. But for everyday walking or standing, they're comfortable and work well. They're also well-packed for shipping - won't be smashed down by the time they get to you.

Good shoe....Feet are very happy snuggled inside
Appearance: This isn’t the most attractive walking shoe, but it is fairly nondescript. The light blue around the collar and the tongue is attention-getting and pleasing. The overly long laces are also a matching blue. These are; however, better looking and more versatile than many of the glow-in-the-dark multicolored shoes offered by New Balance and other companies. Pros: The padded insole is removable which makes it more user friendly and compatible with one's special inserts. The foam padded collar and tongue with fabric lining makes for a comfortable fit with extended walking. The traditional lacing provides a secure, adjustable and snug fit. Cons: The arch support is adequate for low healthy arches; however, it might be inadequate if one has a high arch or needs extra support in that area. That problem could easily be remedied by adding another insole better suited to one’s individual needs. The sole is cushioned; however, one might prefer more cushion when running/walking over hard surfaces or uneven terrain. The sole is rubber which makes for a quiet walk across hard floors. The toe is rounded. Sizing: I first ordered ½ size smaller which was the recommended size. It fit too soon for my comfort so I ordered ½ size larger. ½ size smaller was just too short for my grumpy feet. This shoe is a bit roomy, but it allows for adding a heel insert or a custom arch support. I can also wear heavier athletic style socks that are more comfortable than thin socks for extended walking. LACING: Oh my! Numerous other reviewers have mentioned the long laces. The ones in my shoes were 52 & 53 inches long. Yep, that is no typo. One lace was one inch longer than the other. I replaced them with 48 inch New Balance laces. Maybe the light blue ones that arrived with my shoes look better; however, the shorter ones look nice and are much easier on the eyes…..and MUCH easier to keep off the floor when I am walking! Maybe a size 12 shoe would be happy with the l-o-n-g laces, but I doubt it. My feet are very happy snuggled inside. Overall, they are a good shoe. I am on my second pair. The first pair walked about 1250 miles on a treadmill, and were still wearable and looked fairly good when they found a new home. However, what works for one person's feet just might spell pain for others.

Very comfortable with clean look, no tread wrap around
I like New Balance shoes. I learned many shoes ago that NB runs about 1/2 size smaller than many other shoes. So if you normally wear 10 1/2, try the NB 11 for a perfect fit. That is my experience. I have some foot problems and in general NB has very cushioned and comfortable foot beds. The uppers wear well too. Some are better than others. This MW877 has the best feel out of the box and I've worn them several weeks now, every other day, all day, without discomfort. That is unusual for me and is why I am writing this. NB has many styles. I have many of their walking shoes, the MW series, and will share what I've found. I have the MW977 boots, and MW780, MW950, MW759, MW3000, and now the MW877 shoes. While all these are the MW series walkers, tread and comfort vary. The boots have deep tread and have a stiff but very comfortable foot bed. I've had them for years and the stiff foot bed has not deteriorated. Great for walking a dog along a creek or a longer trail hike, but not for gardening because deep tread allows lots of dirt to pack into the bottom. The 780 and the 950 look similar. The 780 has almost as much tread as the boots and a mesh top. The 950 has an all leather top and very light tread. Former good for light hiking, latter for gardening. All three mentioned are older and may not be available now. I mention them so that if you have them, it may help you with my comparisons. Also the last two have had their foot beds deteriorate over the years. They are fine for a few hours, but then my feet start to complain. I've tried the replacement soles and they just haven't worked for me. I have foot problems, they may be just fine for you. But grasp that all these NB shoes have uppers that wear well enough to consider putting replacement soles into after several years. These last three shoes are newer, within the last two years. The 759 has been my "go to" shoes for everyday with jeans. Very comfortable foot bed with mesh upper and medium tread. They look similar to cross trainers with the medium tread. The 3000 I got earlier this year. They are all leather uppers and have light tread, There is some similarity to the 950 mentioned earlier, but the 3000 look much nicer and they are very comfortable for all day. They look nice enough to wear with casual dress slacks... my opinion. The new 877 are kind of a cross between the 3000 and the 950. They have the mesh upper, so they look a little like cross trainers, but the tread on the bottom is so light, it reminds me of a boat shoe. It's not what I expected - different look. Not that they don't look good. They have a very clean look, no tread wrap around. Putting them on changed my mind. They are the most comfortable NB shoes I've had and they look pretty good too. So I hope this comparison helps. Just to prove my opening sentence, I also have a pair each of the NB cross trainers and runners. I do like New Balance.

5th purchase of these shoes and a very comfortable fit to help relieve toe pain
This was my 5th order of these shoes. Each pair has fit consistently and held up well with regular use. They are comfortable right out of the box and fit well even with my orthotics in them. The wide toe bed has helped my toes “breath” and not get squished in regular styled shoes with pointy toe beds. Functionally, they are just what I need to relieve foot pain and are easy to put on and take off. Overall quality has been great on every pair purchased.

The big toe area is wearing out after approximately 2 months.
I liked the comfort of the shoe. Plenty of room in the toe box. The colors are muted grey, blue, and white and go with most other colors. However, the area of my big toe is wearing out after approximately 2 months. I received 11/26/24 and it is now February 9, 2025. I paid almost $80 for these shoes. I do not wear them all of the time, mostly to work out in 3 times a week. I expected them to last at least a year. Also, they were supposed to be made in the USA, and it says on the shoe that they were made in Vietnam.

Fine shoes for exercise walkinig
First, let me say, these are athletic shoes from New Balance, not fashion statements. If you want cutesy running shoes, then order running shoes. I received these yesterday to replace my 6-year old New Balance 847 walking shoes. I read the reviews stating the toe box is large and boxy. Gee... The shoes fit very well. My feet feel well enclosed and do not move about anywhere. The toe box is perfect and also not loose, no matter how boxy they look. I went out for my 4-mile walk today and they felt great. Not too spongy in the sole and the sole has just the perfect amount of flex for shoes designed for...(Gasp!) walking for exercise. Are they cute? Maybe in a sort of armed forces way. They are certainly great looking to his old soldier (I'm 77). They are a nice replacement for a pair of shoes that are only worn for my long walks. I think I'll keep them.

I’m a convert
Love love love these shoes. This is my second walking shoe and I don’t think I’ll go back to runners now. Still a New Balance girl but I’m 50 now. And I need a good stable shoe. My foot is finding these so natural and I really like the look. Not the blue or the laces but the shoes themselves are nice and make my feet look smaller than runners do. I was wearing top of the line Fresh Foam and I like these better.

Scarpe comode e ben larghe
Regalato a mio padre che soffre di piedi gonfi, ne ha apprezzato proprio la pianta più larga rispetto alle altre New Balance. Comode e leggere. Consigliate!
