Boots is a rescue cat that we literally brought home from the side of the road. We had never had pets before, so everything—from nail caps to pet food—has been a learning experience for us. When we first brought her home, we went to the store and picked up the basics: a litter box, a scooper, and some dry food. As we learned more, we realized how important hydration is for cats. That led us to buy a water fountain and switch to a premium wet food diet. Then we started looking for ways to help Boots live longer and stay healthier, and that’s when we discovered freeze-dried raw food. I had never heard of it before, but after doing some research, Stella & Chewy’s consistently came up as a top recommendation. We were advised to start with chicken, but since two of Boots’ wet food options are already chicken-based, we decided to try rabbit for variety. Now, I’ll admit—this food is expensive. But I did some math to better understand the value. We feed Boots four times a day, typically about 2.5 oz of wet food per meal. When we replace one of those meals with the freeze-dried food, she only needs about 0.5–0.6 oz. That works out to roughly one pellet per ounce (actually a little less). I will let you determine the price per meal based on the price at time of purchase and how much you feed your cat. Right now, we’re using this as her nighttime meal, and an 8 oz bag lasts us about 15 meals. As for Boots’ reaction: she goes absolutely crazy for this food. She loves the rabbit. The moment I take the bag out of the cabinet, she can’t contain herself. Waiting for me to add warm water, crush the pellets, and mix everything together clearly feels like forever to her. And when it’s finally ready, she devours it—there’s never anything left in the bowl. Would I recommend this? Absolutely. Yes, it’s expensive, but even if you don’t feed it every day, it’s a fantastic option as an occasional meal. Your cat will love it—even if it’s just once a week or less. Finally, while others have likely covered the detailed nutritional benefits, my perspective is simple: the closer we can get to a natural, prey-based diet without fillers, the better it is for our feline friends.

Been feeding my 9 yr old cat a raw food diet including Stella & Chewy rabbit as a topper. The only thing I didn’t like about the rabbit was the very hard texture making it difficult to crumble on his food. I just got a new bag and was delighted to see the smaller nuggets. They’re so easy to crumble and give as a treat and my cat loves them. P.S. The raw food has kept him lean, healthy and strong. 😻

I have two 9 month old kittens, one that will eat practically anything, and another that I've been struggling for months to find something she'll like. I have tried so many different brands and flavors of wet food, and she turns her nose up to all of it. I ordered this one day on a whim, and she has gone crazy for it! As soon as she smelled the bag, she went savage on it! She ripped it up so badly, I had to put it into a sealed plastic container, which she still tries to jailbreak. She gobbles this up, both wet and dry, and I can't tell you how much joy it brings me. I've been so worried about her not eating enough, and finding something she loves is such a relief!

I have been feeding this product to my two cats for just one month now. I have a 12 year old cat who has a myriad of health problems, and the Vet recommended a freeze dried raw diet. Since my cats are house cats, they do not get a lot of exercise, although I try to play with them each day, and they have a multitude of toys. She was overweight when I adopted her at age 7. No matter what I do she has a difficult time losing weight. It is difficult for her to even clean herself thoroughly. One cup of this food is recommended for a 10 pound cat. One cup is just short of 200 calories (k cals). My Vet said that my cat needs to stay under 200 of these calories per day to lose weight. I called Stella and Chewy’s and was told for my cat to lose weight they recommended feeding her 1 and 1/2 cups, or 300 calories, per day. Something just did not seem right about this, so I began doing a lot of research. What I found out was absolutely sickening to me. Each one of these dinner morsels is 5 calories! That equals more calories than one of her cat treats!! Along with the information I found out on calories, Stella and Chewy’s will not provide certain things about their food, which other comparable brands have no trouble doing. For instance, I noticed the gross amount of bone in this food when it is rehydrated. I try to pick out the larger bones before feeding my cats. After one of my cats nearly choked to death on a bone the size of one of her teeth, I inquired about the percentage of bone in their product, and Stella and Chewy’s adamantly refused to tell me. This is absolutely terrible for someone who pays almost $200 per month for their product! I have now been feeding my girls another brand of freeze dried raw food, which is MUCH lower in calories and MUCH less expensive. My overweight girl is totally satisfied, and after just one month I have seen that she has lost weight. She is happier, more playful, and keeps herself cleaner. It appears that the kitten is coming out in her. For anyone who is thinking of purchasing this food for an overweight cat, please think again. In my opinion, because of Stella and Chewy’s adamant refusal for full disclosure of their product, their grossly inflated price, and the obvious high bone content, this food should not even be on store shelves.

My cat can sometimes be picky but he also won't eat the same thing all the time, so I have to have a few different foods in rotation. This is one of the foods he really likes. I can get through at least one bag before he gets tired and I have to move on to something else for a while. He's a fan of the duck from Stella and Chewy's as well. Unfortunately, the beef makes him sick.

Our Bengal mix girl will be 8 this summer. She was separated from her mother at a very young age, bottle fed and bonded on humans. When we adopted her at 8 weeks she was already accustomed to kibble. I've tried all these years to get her to eat canned cat food, meat, fish, eggs and organs all to no avail. She will fight you for a strawberry mochi and I mean she will have that thing out of your hands before you know what's happening but forget protein of any kind.. We recently discovered that she liked the freeze dried lung we bought for the dog. I immediately looked for freeze dried cat food. I didn't want to present her with anything she'd already rejected so went with rabbit. She instantly gobbled every bite. By the time we finished this small bag she wasn't happy with anything else. In fact when I didn't have any more to offer she popped me twice in the face. Thank goodness for Prime delivery. She's happy and I am so relieved to be able to feed the diet she should have. She's also taking in more water. Highly recommend.

I hate to give it three stars but it's just for the fact of what's happening. I think they are a good company with really good food and they can't control when an animal has an allergy to something or not. But since my cat is allergic to this I felt I needed to put three stars. I like Stella and Chewy products and I've used them supplementally for years with success with many cats, however my Norwegian Forest who actually really likes it crumbled over his kibble is definitely allergic to it. I was able to figure it out fairly fast thank God! My cats rarely vomit and I noticed him starting to itch more and more and more. They get flea medication and rarely go out in the yard with me. It was becoming constant itching and stress? almost over grooming and vomiting, like once or twice a day! I talked to the breeder and it doesn't run in either parents but she agreed that it definitely sounded like a food allergy. I thought I was going to have to go through everything I have one by one but then I realized I had recently repurchased this and he had been eating more and more of it and I've been giving him more and more of it, daily instead of occasionally. I stopped crumbling it on his food and took it away altogether and literally overnight the itching and vomiting stopped (it's been almost a week ) so I think it's either something in the limited ingredients or the fact that the chicken is raw? Maybe it's just a raw factor, I don't know but he does fine on Stella and Chewy's rabbit so I will be going to the other flavors from now on. It's too bad because he really liked this!

My cats used to love these things. Not so much anymore but if you're looking for snacks for your cats I think I would recommend this one. Works is a treat or shred and sprinkle over food they won't eat. Now they will eat

Stella & Chewy is like a slow poison.. cause my cat to vomit and diarrhoea. We tried both rabbit & duck, both causes intolerance. We did very slow transition and with increasing amount, he started to vomit and have diarrhoea more and more.. Finally gave up and changed to Feline Natural freeze dried raw and he is finally ok. Wont recommend this brand at all..

Used this as a single protein diet for my cat who is a fussy eater. She absolutely loves it. Faeces does not smell either. Highly recommend!

Amaaaazing . My picky eaters cats loved it , although it’s new food to them but they didn’t have any digestion issues or diarria which amazed me .Totally recommended

My cat seems to enjoy this product. He is diabetic and always hungry this seems to help keep him full longer. I would definitely recommend this to another cat parent. Only down fall the smell is something to get use to!
