Looper [DVD] [2017]

LOOPER has received fantastic review, so my expectations were high. It turned out to be a deeply cool and intelligent thriller that was utterly gripping and made me think hard. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis were both completely brilliant as the main character, and there was a great debut performance from a child. The storyline was complicated but in a great way that got me thinking. The effects were also stunning and the pace was never slowed. Some sections reminded me of I AM LEGEND a bit, which is also amazing. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this film and I highly, highly recommend it. One of the best films of the year. 10/10

Of course I love IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, but when this came along, Love Actually went straight to No1. *The outtakes are great to watch. They were cut because the film would be too long. Shame really as they add so much to the stories of some of the not so important characters. Richard Curtis introduces each scene, although he doesn't have to. Perhaps we might get a Director's Cut edition some time. Surely you know the film so I won't bore you the the synopsis. If you don't... well it's heart warming, comical, sad and XMASEY.

I'm a grown man. I have a big hairy chest and beard. My dog has fierce teeth. I drink ales, in fact I quaff them. And nothing, nothing can reduce me to a blubbering mess like this film. It has a direct line to my inner emotions that nothing else has. Sometimes I even start blubbing as I put the disc in. I challenge you not to feel sad at that Eulogy. Or to celebrate as Colin runs through the town. or as Emma crumples. There are more quotable quotes in this film than in all over films put together in history*. There are more poignant and hilarious uses of Bill Nighy then in any other film ever**. You get see to see Martin Freeman's chesticles. Alan Rickman! Did I forget to mention Alan Rickman's in it, and he's good. Oh god, Emma Thompson's in it too and she's good as well, in fact she's good in everything (like Alan) but she's very good in this. When she smooths that duvet- come on you know which scene - a part of me dies. This film will make you love Joni Mitchell more. This film on paper is a horrible saccharine yawn fest. But somehow out of the mangled mess something great is wrangled, by incredibly talented people at the top of their game. Its as if after an infinite number of romantic comedies the law of chance decided that this is THE ONE, this is one perfect romantic comedy that will forever define the genre. Go on buy it! Watch it. Watch it again, every single year at Christmas for the end of time. I'm going to watch it just before Christmas stroking my big manly beard and my sharp tooth dog. And I will be crying and laughing, and my wife will be looking at me as if I was having a breakdown. And you know what I don't care, because for the brief*** 2 hours 16 I will be transported to a place of heart ache and joy, and I always, always come out of it feeling better. *this isn't true. **warning over exposure to Bill Nighy will make you want to laugh in a Nighy fashion *** okay its quite long

I first saw Looper in the cinema and the experience was amazing. I had to buy it on DVD as soon as possible and watch it with the rest of my family. It is a great film which shows one of the many possibilities of time travel. Although it does not mention how time travel was invented or the process it does not have any negative effect on the plot. Bruce willis and Joseph Gordon Levitt are great lead actors and I like how they have made Joseph look more like a younger Bruce Willis, it adds to the intensity of the film. My eyes were glued to the screen whilst watching this and my emotions varied throughout the film. It is full of witty - one liners and funny scenes throughout. It is a very moving and emotional film despite this and I found the ending to be a shock. Which was nice as I normally predict endings quite well but I did not with Looper. I recommend this film.

This was a Christmas gift for my partner... I regret this gift as he keeps watching it, but it nwould be unfair to rate the film badly just because it makes my skin crawl every time I see the opening credits. He says its really good and a good "bloke" film. So yeah. If you're a "bloke" or maybe even a girl who considered herself something of a "bloke" then this is for you. I, am not a bloke.

Seen the film many years ago. Started to watch on TV but fell asleep. Purchased a copy to watch when I want.

The premise for this film is fantastic, the cast appears great, and its a movie that wants to be seen. However, it is a major disappointment. The whole concept of hit men and time-travel is intriguing- and the concept of your future self being the target, even more so, but this, in truth, is not what the film ends up being about. In a Terminator esque manner Bruce Willis turns his antics in the past to a 'save the future' kill quest wanting to destroy a future-crushing "rainmaker" (whom we know very little about and have little incentive to want killed) whilst he is still a child. The aforementioned has 'TK'- the films terms for Telekentic powers- and this is barely covered and feels like one idea too far, almost an add on that is ultimately crucial to the narrative but is not presented to us enough. In all the film leaves you dissatisfied, feels clunky, and disappointing as on paper it could have been so much better

I watched this film in the cinema and I have to say, this is fast becoming my number one favourite movie. They give you a brilliant window into a character's life. The character is a 'looper', an hired gun who kills people from the future, so that their bodies cannot be traced. The only problem is his last target... is himself. Needless to say, the future HIM runs off and so begins the chase of the century. Lovitt is fantastic as young Joe and Bruce Willis is absolutely astounding as old Joe. This film is like a perfect blend of Back To The Future, Fallout, Pulp Fiction and The Matrix. It's a fantastic sci-fi movie and definitely a must see!
