Review: A rough beginning but a good resolution. - Yahoo ! A new generator, or so I thought. Mine arrived with a sticking float bowl. After adding the provided oil and filling with Chevron Supreme I was ready for the first start. Or so I had hoped. Upon turning the switch to start and giving it solid pull through, nothing. After 5 pulls nothing, except for fuel pouring from one of the clear drain hoses. The upper one attached to the carburetor, not the float chamber drain. I lamented my rotten luck and called service at AI Power. Very helpful and an immediate, courteous, knowledgeable response. A likely stuck float from long transit and warehouse storage. I then decided I would try an old trick instead of a return, I used to use on carburetorated motorcycles. I of course turned off the fuel run switch, drained the float bowl by opening the screw on the bottom of the float and tapped multiple times on the side of the float housing with a large screwdriver. I then turned the fuel switch back on and allowed the fuel to flow out the bowl. I did this a couple times. I then tightened the float bowl drain screw, allowed the excess gas to evaporate from the unit for an hour or so with a fan and reassembled. Turned the fuel switch to start and gave it a pull. Walla! It worked! Started immediately on that pull, no leaks. So far two hours into break-in with various loads up to 50% no issues. This unit is a tad larger, heavier, and mellower sounding than my Honda as expected. I also purchased a Garvee lift cart to help load and change the oil. Now, that it runs great, I am quite enthusiastic about it and good to have the assistance of experienced service representatives. I like the stealthy look of the unit. I will be removing all the labels upon successful 5 hour break-in and fresh oil confirming all is okay. I am keeping my faith that it was a fluke caused by storage or assembly debris and the unit will now be reliable. If so, I am very pleased. Looks good and runs strong. Has all the features and output rating I was expecting.
Review: Great little Gen, and best price for Dual at 4300w - Looks awesome- I really like the design. Weight is very good, size is excellent for the rating, panel, build, layout is good too. It's definitely a bit louder than I was expecting though - even in the eco quiet mode. But I'm also used to the $1300-1400 (gas only) Honda Inverter generators we use at the office during events. Those are usually so quiet that you can't tell if its still running when people are within 10' in a group socializing. You'd definitely hear this without having to get up within a foot of it. Though for a fraction of the cost, it works for me. I bought this mainly for dual fuel. I have access to propane for cheap, which stores long term, and doesnt require gen storage prep routines when it wont be used for a while. It'll ride in an expanded metal box on the front of my trailer when in use. I had it running in the very back of my enclosed trailer and when I walk up near the front I can barely hear it, so I'm confident I wont be annoyed by it from inside when it is out there. In a campground with people in tents adjacent to us though... it could possibly cause a little irritation. Though maybe not. I'll have to re-test and come back once I get the cage built. I live in Utah and 75% of the camp areas I frequent have no other campers within 50' or more so that is a non-issue with this generator.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than expected
*by R***. on August 22, 2020*

Started on the 3rd pull after taking it off choke a little. Tested it on my 8000btu a/c first and it worked great - very little speed increase on ECO mode surprisingly. Then I put a 1875 watt hair dryer on it and the dryer ran fine although the generator could only provide 1587 watts ( which is close enough for it's advertised output) for it according to my watt meter. That bumped it up to full rpm naturally. On house current the dryer was pulling around 1850 watts. As far as noise goes, I was surprised how quiet it is. The youtube videos are deceptive, making it sound louder than it actually is. I did notice before starting it up that the generator was test run at the factory because of discoloration of the exhaust tube. I found that reassuring. Overall the quality looks excellent and it runs perfect, especially for a low priced model. Sorry, I can't find anything wrong with it! Update 8/24/20 Checked fuel consumption at a couple of different loads: *Window a/c 8000 BTU's @ 650 watts per hour continuous - 40% of rated load = 6.7 hours per gallon - Eco mode ON. *1500 watt electric heater. 94% load: 4.16 hours per gallon - Eco mode off. Update 6/20/2022 I just converted this over to natural gas and runs great. Full load watt capacity only dropped by 10-15 watts, but surge watts dropped more.. Hard to say how much, but I can tell there is a little more lag time when a 1500 watt load kicks in for engine to recover on eco mode. Nothing serious with what I run and I notice all generators take a bigger hit on surge when converted. It still starts my 8000 but A/c. with no problem. US Carburetion has kits for these. The only thing hard about the conversion is getting the inside nut off and back on the carb again. It would help a lot if you had another pair of hands in order to tilt the engine over on the mounts while one gets a little ratchet in there. I have not mastered starting the unit on NG yet and I might not. I am just putting about an ounce of gas in the tank and start it that way, then when the motor starts to stagger in a minute or two I start introducing the NG. Very easy this way and makes it it much cheaper to run compared to gasoline. All I have to do when the power goes out is start it and bring out of the garage a couple of feet and she'll just run and run. No more hauling gasoline or worrying if the gas is going bad is a huge benefit. Update 6/28/2022 As far as the surge problem goes with the generator running on NG, I discovered that if you eliminate the quick disconnect fittings from the gas line and plug the conversion kit fuel line that goes from the carburetor directly into the regulator thereby eliminating the tiny 3/16 barb fitting that they provide with the kit, it will make the generator run just as well as it does on gasoline. I think this may be why all the tri-fuel generators take such a drastic cut in performance because they don't allow for restrictive fittings. Take a look at the specs on a tri-fuel generator and look what they use for the fittings. Yup, quick disconnects. They have very tiny passageways. The problem is most pronounced when running in ECO mode when a large load hits the generator. Update 4/28/2023 I have 30 hours on it now so it should be pretty will broke in. I decided to clock my gas meter and check the Natural Gas usage at different loads today. It seems to do a little better on NG than on gasoline and not to mention that NG is 8 times cheaper than gasoline! Oil looks brand new yet, too. All ECO on No load idle = 12.82 hours Per cubit foot(PCF). Present Cost of Natura Gas is 45 cents PCF 435 watts = 10.13 hours PCF 950 watts = 7.15 hours PCF 1500 watts = 4.72 hours PCF https://www.amazon.com/DuoMax-XP13000HXT-000-Watt-Electric-Generator/dp/B092CJQ51F/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3LEV80YSW7N97&keywords=tri%2Bfuel%2Bgenerator&qid=1656459230&sprefix=tri%2Bfuil%2Caps%2C131&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFGMTNHVUZQQ0pUSkUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3NTc2MjMzMTRDVjU2U0hOQU9NJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1MjExNjYyWDBWUkxUVFJaVDRRJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1
