Mims' Medical Microbiology and Immunology

This clinically oriented textbook is a fine teaching guide for doctors to be, practicing docs, and yes retired doctors like myself. It is easy to read, filled with excellent clinical photographs of common disorders, and combines it with updated medical science. You will review newfound research into pathology of very practical use. The authors are excellent teachers. I think this would be an excellent textbook to cover the combination of pathology, microbiology, and immunology of infectious disease. If you are interested in studying infectious diseases, this is a great book to start with. Dr. Mim was 100 years old as of this edition. I hope he is still alive; his introduction indicates he is proud of this 2024 edition. Thomas Weisman MD Tucson, Arizona

Format makes it easy to understand. Excellent book for students.

I understand putting a textbook is an enormous amount of work, and the authors here did a great job overall - the e-book addition is fantastic. There are some glaring mistakes/omissions though: - On multiple occasions, it is declared "all bacterial genomes are circular" (eg p10), which is simply not true, eg Borrelia - Epidemiology of diseases/disease maps are often missing, no uniform structure - C. perfringens not mentioned in GI?? - Otitis media in URT? - Pili and fimbriae are used as synonyms, no distinction - Sepsis is covered way too briefly - Fig 23.2 has some unusual characters/typos
