I had originally wanted to buy these when they were 18 months but wasn't able to. Now at 2 years with helmets on and shoes they are just starting to give these a try. Right now they are at the age to where if they go outside they just want to run so I have no brought the bikes inside. They are quality well made bikes - really the best as far as features ( toddler handlebars, adjustable seat and lite weight). We bought the bike in white and I love it with the blacked out rims.
