The video quality is outstanding. The 2K resolution captures every detail, and the color night vision provides a clear image even in the dark. The battery life is impressive. The camera truly offers four times longer battery life, making it very convenient to use. Real-time alerts allow for immediate response to any movement, and the ability to view footage from a smartphone adds extra convenience.

Picked up this Essential XL to add to my existing Arlo security camera setup and it's awesome. Setup is super simple. Mounting it and getting it pointed right where I wanted visibility was quick and easy. Connecting the camera to my Arlo hub and adding it to my existing setup took only a minute. Video quality is great, as is connectivity with the 5GHz wifi. The extended battery life means months without having to think about recharging. Even with an extended battery, the overall size is still small enough to go unnoticed in most spots. I'm really happy with this addition to my current security setup. The features, value, and quality are all what I've come to expect from Arlo products.

I’ve had the cameras up for about a week to add to other arlos. Set up was easy and they synced with the app with no problem. I don’t have an old base station people mention. I wasn’t sure what to expect between the vine reviews that I give zero weight to and people complaining about things like it’s not hardwired (which you can buy but the whole point is the ease of installation and not being tied to a power source.) I have mine around the house and also mounted on trees. The battery remains at 94% and that’s even through a snowstorm and a very cold week. WiFi range is no problem. Picture clarity is very good. Motion detection could probably be a little better but tbd. It triggered once for a fox but I see more prints in the snow with no video. Overall I’m happy with them.

I bought an Arlo Pro 2 camera, and it worked perfectly for about five years. Recently, the battery performance degraded significantly, so I replaced the batteries and the camera started working properly again. Later, I came across a very good deal on Amazon for the Arlo Essential XL (2nd generation) and decided to buy four of them. During installation, I eventually discovered that these cameras are not fully usable outside the United States. The main issue is that while I receive motion alerts and can view the live feed, when I open the app to review recorded footage, there is nothing in the feed. I later learned that accessing recorded clips requires an Arlo subscription. However, since I live outside the US, I am unable to purchase a subscription. As a result, the four Arlo Essential cameras are essentially useless for their intended purpose. They only allow live viewing and motion notifications, but no recordings can be reviewed, which defeats the purpose of having security cameras.
