Typical Chinesium knock-off that works well for its intended use. It is kinda big, but not uncomfortable at all with a 2.0AH battery. Know the tools limitations going in and you won't be disappointed, I assure you. This IS NOT A HEDGE TRIMMER, regardless of what the add says. However, it is PERFECT for plant trimming, light brush trimming, etc...don't expect to shape your bushes in front of your house. There are other tools for that kind of work. These are not heavy-duty shears, but they'll put a severe gash on an appendage if one is placed in the blade jaws, so of course, don't do that. The motor is a brushed motor, though I would prefer a brushless...just couldn't find one available. Again, the caveat here is these are light duty it probably won't make a difference with the light use it will see here. Hasn't been an issue yet. Review: Junk ! - Save your money ! Just buy the makita set these will fall apart cutting grass ....

For Thin Vegetation Only -- 1/4" Green Shoots Or Smaller
I bought this trimmer because I wanted a handheld hedge trimmer that used my 5-amp 18V Makita batteries. That it does. It's very maneuverable and lightweight, once you get it started. The lockout button on the left side, that has to be pressed before you can pull the trigger and start the motor, is awkwardly positioned. It would be better if the button were on top, but that's just me. Once you get the trimmer going (with the hedge trimmer head installed) it works great -- on branches less that 1/4" in diameter. It's really a finish trimmer; not for serious work. Nothing larger than 1/4" diameter growths can reach the knives. I found that if you try to cut larger branches, the trimmer head unsnaps from the motor unit and the blades quit working. At first I thought it was broken, but no. It merely unsnapped from the motor unit. I clicked it back together and continued on. So, just go for the small stuff after you've used the real hedge trimmer to do the major work. On the plus side, it's small, light and very maneuverable. And it's battery powered, so NO CORD. Yea! Haven't used the grass trimmer because we don't have any grass. May work on the hedges better than the hedge trimmer head. Will investigate.

Not wonderful but usable
Went cheaper because I needed one right away. Didn’t work as well as my last one. Probably doubled the work time. You get what you pay for. Go for a slightly more expensive version/brand and save yourself time working on your yard.

Broken on first use
Another review mentioned how the blades disconnect when trying to work on thicker branches. The disconnect was mildly annoying until it wouldn't snap back into place at all. Needless to say, it was returned after the first use.
