Rotorvent Turbolite Revolving Chimney Cowl

The joys of a bungalow are all very well but a short chimney on a cold windless day is nothing short of a menace to asthmatics when you are trying to light the wood burner. This moderate device makes one bask in the joys of an accomplished engineering mind. Note to self. I do not have such a mind. Which is why I bought this chimney cowl. Easy to fit especially with two on the roof. Picks up the merest drift of wind and off you go. Beware. It is sharp so don't try and stop it with gloveless hands when it has picked up speed. You may lose digits. It is not the cheapest option but it is well made and I am much happier without all and sundry wheezing like a bag of grampus when a cold day requires a roaring fire.

Had a few of these for installation - great product and easy to fit.

Definitely pulls smoke up from our open fire (probably too much!) Great package, sturdy strong product. Only downfall is it seems to create a bit of noise when its fully spinning, unsure if it has come slightly loose but we can hear it through our old bedroom fireplace that has been covered.

Bought this to go on a new chimney pot as we were reverting to an open fire. Our problems, which this solved, were lack of draught and keeping out the elements (and birds). Easy to fit and well made item. Very happy.

I was a little sceptical that this product would do what people are suggesting in terms of improving draft and reducing / removing down draft but it really does!. I’ve had it installed 2 weeks now and can confirm it has - 1) stopped any down draft (also when the Log burner is not in use), 2) improved draw / up draft ( better when slightly windy) 3) most importantly for me it has removed any smells of ash or fire that I was getting the following day of a fire. It does cost a bit but I would 100% recommend this product.

After having a log burner fitted to a new single story lounge I added to my home, I found that often I got a back draft blowing smoke and ash into my new room.I fitted this cowl with ease to my 4.2 meter chimney, with a round chimney pot (it comes with a jubilee clip fitting) 6 weeks ago, and it's completely solved the problem. Don't expect the the shiny cowl to stay that way, it quickly discolours.

Unfortunately this cowl has failed in the high winds. Only lasted 6 weeks and has now gone beyond the return window. Very upset with this product.May had been faulty from the start as brought as used however the item appeared new (maybe a return?).Can't recommend this product as it did not perform as described. Perhaps the newer model is better.

A very good quality item which fits and works well, but took a while to get here? Should last for many years to come?
