Worth the $$!
I’ve had several different spot cleaners so far and this one is the best I’ve had. I don’t usually make comprehensive reviews like this, but I feel like this one deserves it. I looked into a few different spot cleaners before deciding on this one a few days ago and I figured I’d bite the bullet and buy the more expensive one, hoping it would be worth its cost. The carpet in our apartment is only 1yo. It hasn’t been cleaned yet, except for the occasional spot clean for spills. With children and a cat, I knew it would be dirty but after cleaning just a small portion of our living room, I didn’t expect to pull out this much (see pics). The area in this photo is all that I’ve cleaned so far, and it’s not a super high traffic area… yet this vacuum pulled out so much. Both pics are after cleaning - I didn’t get a before unfortunately, but with the carpet we have it would be hard to see a difference unless there was big stains. Pros: SO easy to clean and I was able to clean it well. If you are looking for one that’s easy to clean THIS IS IT. I have never gotten any of my spot cleaners’ dirty tanks as clean as I could get this one. The dirty tank lid comes completely off and everything rinses right out. The hose can be cleaned by dipping into a bowl of water and running it through the hose. I was tired and almost didn’t do this, but did anyway just in case and I’m so glad I did. I refilled the dirty tank with MORE dirty water and several clumps of hair JUST from the hose. I read some reviews on this claiming it didn’t extract much, however I disagree. I really doused some areas to test it out and after spraying, letting it sit for a couple minutes, then extracting, it was just slightly damp after. I except at this rate for the areas to be dry within just a couple hours. The steam feature helped me get out 2 pretty set in stains. Cons: The only downside I find with this is there’s some leaking around the nozzle spray button. I had to wipe it off a couple times while cleaning. If you’re looking for a good quality spot cleaner, this is a great option.

Really happy with this machine!
I have two beige barrel chairs in my TV room that take a beating from my two boys and their friends. Last year I had them professionally cleaned and they turned out beautiful…for $400. They needed another cleaning, and I am not interested in shelling out that $ every single year! So I thought I’d try the Little Green for $175. I just finished cleaning them, and they look terrific! I even got a stain out of our dining room chair that I discovered two days ago (why does nobody say anything?!) and thought I had no chance of removing! Full transparency, I used a little spot shot on that as a pre-treatment before using the Little and after quite a bit of scrubbing and many passes, I don’t think anyone will even know it was there. While I was at it, I took out some spots in my carpet, too. It worked on all of it! I’m so glad I have a machine that I can use immediately before stains set. I see me using this A LOT and saving so much money!

Definitely recommend for detailed carpet cleaning
Great product, easy to use and very effective. Great for those who have pets or kids. Great for detailed cleaning or even in your car seats and floor mats.

5 STAR CLEANING MACHINE --as long as you get one that works.
THIS IS AN AMAZING LITTLE MACHINE as long as you get one that makes steam. Unfortunately, there are HUGE unit to unit differences in steam production! More on this later. We have no carpets in our house, so I can't speak to how it cleans carpet. But we have plenty of light-colored upholstered furniture. I HAVE FOUND THIS IS THE BEST DEVICE TO CLEAN UPHOLSTERY. It takes the furniture from looking dirty and old---to new looking again. (We have restored furniture purchased at "antique" stores using this product, saving THOUSANDS.) To use, you add water to the fill line the clean container, choosing either small or large job, then add cleaning solution to the designated line above. (I only use 1/2 the recommended amount.) Then you turn the machine on choosing steam alone, steam and spray, or spray alone. You are supposed to let it warm up until the indicator light comes on. The problem is that when the machine first starts up no matter what cycle you picked, it will spray solution and no steam. Aim it at a cloth until the output looks like the cycle you picked. The machines used to come with an additional part called the "HydroRinse Self-Cleaning Hose tool" which allowed you to spray into this special cap, which immediately sucked whatever liquid back into the dirty water bin, so you could press the on button until you knew it was warmed up and making steam. This is available for a few dollars ONLY AS AN ACCESSORY. Curiously, it is described in the user's manual but NOT INCLUDED. For cleaning large areas, I use steam only until the machine fully warms up, spraying into the "hydrorinse tool," then switch to the larger cleaning head, using the Steam + Spray cycle. I don't recommend soaking furniture; you can always go back and do it again. If you use too much cleaner, you will see residue on the upholstery when it dries. (Then clean again with just water.) It ships with a tiny sample of Bissell Pet Pro Oxy Spot and Stain, which does have a smell. It's not as bad as carpet shampoo in decades past, but it still leaves an odor (in my opinion) reminiscent of cheap theater seats. If you're like me and have scent sensitivity, I recommend you get Bissell Little Green Pet Oxy Spot and Stain "Free and Clear" which HAS NO DETECTABLE SCENT. For the tiniest spots or most delicate fabrics, try steam only first. If you have a large area to clean such as an entire cushion of a sofa, the Steam + Spray option would be better. Anyway, the machine does a great job on upholstery. On persistent stains on our white furniture, I prespot with a spray on peroxide-based spot remover, let it sit awhile, then clean again. When you've got a good machine IT REALLY DOES A 5 STAR JOB. I love my machine. But the quality control IS NOT GOOD. I have now had 5 of these units for 2 homes. (3 were from Costco, 2 were purchased here.) The first one stopped working after a few months, so I returned it for replacement, but it hardly made any steam. I returned it and got a great machine. We recently purchased another home, so bought another unit from Amazon as Costco stopped selling these. Hmm. Again, my unit hardly made any steam. I would not have known the difference except for my prior experience. I ordered a replacement from Amazon and am happy with the steam coming out of the new unit. OUT OF 5 UNITS ONLY 2 WERE GOOD. 2 MADE LITTLE STEAM, AND ONE LASTED ONLY A FEW MONTHS! Something is seriously wrong with their quality control. I recommend you buy this with caution. If hardly any steam comes out, you may have a defective unit. Save all packing material and send it back or perhaps consider the extended warranty. You will see reviewers who love the machine, and those who complain about lack of steam. Maybe they just got a bad machine and didn't know any better!

7/16/25 UPDATE Very well designed unit, long-lasting steam & useful improvements over older design
An update a/o 7/16/2025...God knows what the Tollers got into but it was ALL on the carpet this morning. The only addition to my highly favorable past review is the steam never gave out despite an hours' constant use. That's better than our coffee makers! I am ALWAYS suspect of Marketing's claims but I am SUCH a Bissell homer that I will only use Bissell cleaning solution. I also used the previous generation cleaner and it's obvious they listened to customer feedback with incremental improvements. An exceptional company. Written Thanksgiving, 2024. I'm even more impressed. Decades ago I bought two Super 99s while in Shanghai. VERY unusual colors, never seen colors/themes in the states, one light grey and the other gold/white. About 2010, our first Toller, Oscar, carpet bombed the grey and it has resisted EVERY attempt to remove DARK stains. Until now. This gizmo has almost completely removed stains with one session and I expect the stains to completely disappear. Outstanding performance! The g/w was just gifted by Willie Toller who is fighting a bout of bloody gastroenteritis. Even though I cleaned it quickly, I was concerned (first about Willie!) that it had set. Two passes and there is no way one can tell it was gifted by a Toller. This machine is DEFINITELY worth the bucks. Now on to the original review... I'm clearly a Bissell homer but they deserve the business. My first B rug cleaner was a MONSTER that looked like the aliens from Dr. Who. But it worked great. I bought the earlier version of this design, without steam, a LONG time ago and was very pleased. One of our Tollers recently had a lot of sedation and he had bowel problems and let's just say the gifts left on the floor were quiet varied indeed. The steam function on this made short work of any version of poop he could produce and I believe the steam makes a huge difference with odors. Nowhere was there any scent left that I could smell and the pups did not linger anywhere near the cleaned spots. THIS is definitely worth the up-charge. They also significantly improved the design, better hose stowage and the long extension cord holder seems to hold the cord better. To update (May 2024), I used this on a set-in stain on broadloom which was partially removed by the earlier version. This machine removed it in short-order. It also removed water stains on a berber in the basement. Quite an impressive gizmo.

A Surprisingly Good Carpet and Furniture Cleaner
I read the instructions first because I wanted to get the best results while using this product. The instructions were easy to follow and the results were great. If you’re looking for a portable carpet, furniture, whatever cleaner I highly recommend this one. I brought the one that came with a 3 and 5 inch attachment and a free sample of cleaning solution. It took me a few attempts at cleaning my chairs to really get the hang of the best way to use it. Overall I am very happy with the results.

A big thumbs up from me.
Nice slick little cleaner for pet owners and everyone else who has a lot of spots and stains on their carpets from life happening. The tanks are of adequate size to hold plenty of cleaning solution and dirty fluids as one cleans the rugs. It leaves the carpets significantly less wet than I imagined it might, which is a great bonus for me. The cleaner allows one to clean just bad spots and larger areas as well, and it is designed with efficiency in mind for the operators. The only think I have had to add to the operation is to cut a 3/4" piece of plywood and smooth out the edges so I can move it along under the cleaner so the machine can get rid of all the hot air that is generated under the cleaner and seems to not allow it to operate as cool as I think it should. It runs cooler and therefore it should last longer with the board under it during operations. This might be part of some kind of planned obsolescence or maybe a very slight design flaw, but the cleaner operates just fine without the board under it, but I like the board-aided operation better. The cost of the cleaner is a little steep, but after seeing the good results, it is acceptable.

I Would Recommend But Needs Key Fixes to Reach Full Potential
I’ve wanted this for a long time and was excited to try it. I already own an older Bissell carpet cleaner that’s very similar—just without the steam. This model definitely has some nice design improvements, like a better hose connection and a holder for an extra tip. It feels solid and well-built, and it’s hard to find another compact unit that combines steam and vacuum in one. That said, I have a few major complaints. Dumping the dirty water is awkward and honestly kind of gross. You have to flip the handle back to remove the tank, but since the handle is only attached to the lid, it can detach and spill if not seated perfectly. It’s happened to me twice—definitely not ideal. Also, there’s no proper spout, so pouring the dirty water out is messy. You can clean the hose by vacuuming up clean water, but then you have to dump it again, and the hose cleaning tool is sold separately. Another issue is that you can’t turn on the steam function without the loud vacuum also running. That seems like an easy fix. The steam itself is decent—about a 7/10—and heats up quickly, though there’s usually a bit of liquid sprayed before the steam kicks in. I got this on sale and feel it was worth it for the price, but some simple design tweaks could have made this a 5-star product.
