    Excellent, Accurate Illustrated Version of the Black Dahlia Mystery

Terrific illustrated history of the Black Dahlia murder case. The author clearly did his research. There is a short bibliography of the major books written on the subject - all of which I've read and I thought that Mr. Geary did a good job of representing most of the prevailing theories without making the book confusing. The one major theory he did not get into was Steve Hodal's, which I was glad of since it has largely been discounted. The art is top notch and the illustrations of the maps and major land marks really gives the reader a geographical sense of where the major events took place and their proximity to each other - something that has been missing from every other book I've read on the subject. In summary this was a very interesting, well illustrated book that I would recommend without reservation.

I really like Richard Geary's books.  The drawings are excellent and he researches his crime stories well.  Mr. Geary is able to summarize the events in drawings and words in an exciting fashion, and his drawings seem accurate to the facts of the case.  In this book, part of the Treasury of XXth Century Murder, he takes up the tale of the slaughter of a wayward girl found cut in half in a vacant lot in LA.  As always, the drawings are outstanding and the facts are recounted in a detective like way.  Another interesting entry into Mr. Geary's list of fascinating murders.Highly recommended.AD2-t
