Is CLARK'S a wax or a board cream, and do I still need separate cutting board oil?

CLARK'S Cutting Board Wax is a two-in-one: food-grade mineral oil conditions while beeswax and carnauba wax seal. Use it alone for upkeep, or as the finishing step after oiling. Freshly sanded wood takes two or three thin coats.

How do I apply this wax if I have never waxed a cutting board before?

Rub a small amount on with a soft cloth or the CLARK'S Applicator, using circular motions. Let it absorb twenty to thirty minutes, then buff. CLARK'S wax absorbs well and wipes clean, so one thin coat is plenty.

Will this work on bamboo boards, salad bowls and wooden spoons, not just butcher block?

Yes. CLARK'S wax is safe on cutting boards, butcher blocks, bamboo, salad bowls, wooden utensils, countertops and furniture. A six-ounce tub covers kitchen wood and furniture projects alike, including turned bowls.

Is this cutting board wax food safe for boards I cut raw meat on?

Yes. CLARK'S is a food-safe finish of food-grade mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax that forms a protective barrier between your food and the wood. It is a finish, not a sanitizer, so keep washing your board as usual.

Is a six ounce jar worth the price, and how many boards will it treat?

A six-ounce jar of CLARK'S treats several boards, as thin coats go far. Bare wood is thirstier: a freshly sanded board can take three coats and half a tub. Its high carnauba ratio gives a harder, longer-lasting finish.
