Can it be used as a sauna without the steam? No. The steam is the heat source. The tent itself can be used in other ways though. Some people use them as grow tents. **Q: Can this sauna be set up on a covered patio outdoors?** A: I don't see any reason that you couldn't set this up on a covered outdoor patio. I would keep it out of the sun and anchored from the wind. I would store the steam unit inside when not in use. **Q: Can you read in it?** A: I don’t see why not. As others have mentioned the instructions are useless, but it's not too hard to figure out how to put it together. We have also had to buy a longer hose for the steam as we have put it up in our downstairs shower room and unfortunately the door and steam vent are at the wrong end for the space, but we have made it work. The included chairs aren't great, but we have repurposed two wooden garden chairs and put them facing each other length ways (see pic) so we can stretch our legs out. In time I might build a bespoke bench, but this works for now, and we can both fit comfortably. I've also put up some waterproof garden fairy lights inside which is really nice for atmosphere. The steam generator is great, heats up quickly and can get the tent very hot! We use it on power setting 10 when we are both in there, and I turn it up to 12 when my partner gets out, and it's very warm and really relaxing. A membership to my local spa cost £60 per month and I made it down there once a week at most, so this cost the equivalent of 5 months membership and we will get a lot more use out of it!
