So incredibly sweet.
This was so enjoyable I could not put it down. I came off reading an utterly dreadful novel right before this, so this was such a sweet treat in the aftermath. I adored every moment, this book is so witty and delightful while still being chaste. It is a book that teens can read while still being engaging for adults. I enjoyed every second and will happily read Irwin’s first novel and hope fervently for many more.

Delightful!
Sophie Irwin is a wonderful breath of fresh air. Her humor shines through as her plots twist and turn in unexpected ways. While her romances are not steamy, the love is passionate and believable. Can't wait for her next book!

Stunning
Women coming into their own, and the men who do, or do not, love them. Though there is romance, humour, and flirting, au fond, this is a book about gender and control. And a woman who learns to resist it.As another reviewer wrote, there are layers upon layers in this novel. What first appears as two men competing for a lady’s favour becomes more complex. It is about autonomy and betrayal, being true to oneself and forgiveness. And finding grace in surprising places. It is beautifully written, with brilliant dialogue, and the resolution of the love triangle is as surprising as it is clever.

loved it
I enjoyed this book as much as the first in the series. It does subvert many of the expected sweet/proper romance tropes, which kept me on my toes and made for more challenging reading. But so worth it! These are charming, entertaining, and relatable characters and the plot was very skillfully layered. As in the first book, this writer crafts a thrillingly sweet and genuine bond between the heroine and her love. I was so invested in Eliza’s coming into her own and on pins and needles about who she would end up with that I HAD to skip to the end to see. Upon which I sighed with relief and enjoyed every up and down through the last page.
