Good inexpensive shoe
I have purchased this style of Karrimor shoe for a good few years now. They are comfy from the word go, and are also waterproof as stated. I usually use these when dog walking or out on my mountain bike and they have been good. No, they don't last a long time probably about 7-9 months before the sole is well worn, but they are an inexpensive shoe. Also the mountain bike pedals take a toll on the soles, I'd rather trash a pair of £30 shoes like this rather than a £100 pair, for they would surely go the same way. I find the insole works up at the heel, so first thing I do with a new pair is to use a hot glue gun and glue the heel of the insole in position and it keeps the insole from riding up. Despite these couple of minor points, I will continue to buy this brand and type as they are so comfortable. I probably do around 20-30 miles a week in them and find they suit my needs perfectly. Update April 2016, went for blue this time, still delighted with these shoes and hopefully the makers will continue with this style for a long time and not update or modify it unnecessarily as some manufacturers do.

Basically OK for the price
These are relatively lightweight, strongly constructed walking shoes from a well respected brand. They are not too expensive and not too high tech. Once I realised that they were far more comfortable loosely laced at the ankle end of the lacing, I really enjoyed walking in them. Too tightly laced and I found they restricted flexibility in my calf and foot, forcing me to walk in an uncomfortable and inefficient manner - but that might just be me. On the downside, as another reviewer has pointed out, the soles wear quite quickly. I walk on average between 20-25 miles each week and have had these shoes a few months. I calculate that in a another couple of months I will have worn the soles down to a point when I will have to replace the shoes. The soles are also not that cushioning and are made of a compound which appears unable to cope with wet paving slabs as used in some pavements (sidewalks). On such a surface they offer practically no traction and make you feel as if you are walking on sheet ice - I have slid on several occasions. However, on all other surfaces the soles have provided excellent and reassuring traction.

Comfort on long walks and robust
I bought a pair of these a few years ago, and they are still a good support and comfortable on long walks - although now showing signs of wear and tear. Not surprising considering the sometimes tough terrain they walked through. Great value for money. I hope my recently purchased shoes will do the same.

HONESTLY PRICED AND AS GOOD AS SOME OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE STUFF
I am a size 10.5 as a a general rule but modern day shoe manufacturing is not so reliably accurate with sizes anymore. So, if in a shop, I would try out both size 10.5 and size 11 before I made my mind up. I was intending to buy the 10.5 size on-line but the customer reviews really weren't too encouraging. I then clicked onto size 11 and the reviews suddenly became much more positive and supportive........So that is why I opted for this size. They fit just right, so the sizing choice I had been led towards ordering turned out to be the correct one. Having originally had some really good 'Karrimor' walking boots years ago I've always been amazed at the value for money that you get. The lesser price compared to those of the much more expensive brands seems to be no accurate gauge of quality because 'Karrimor' just seem to be more honest about what they are charging us. The sure-footedness of the 'Dynagrip' soles seems excellent and definitely sufficient for my little adventures up on the 'Ridgeway' hills in my area, or when walking along sections of the Thames towpath between Wallingford and Oxford. Yes, as soon as they lose their 'just-bought' look they'll be fine. Eamonn

Very comfy
I usually buy a different make of walking shoe but the high cost in the current climate made me try these and I'm glad I did! Very comfy and they soon broke in.

Wet or Dry no need to cry.
I bought these shoes as I already have a pair of boots for winter. 1st thing I dislike was how wide the show is. It's wide. I have a size 9 but feels like a 10 . My feet do not slide in the shoe. And it's tight and water proof around the tongue area. They grip well in mud and stone but if you're kneeling and on your toes. The shoes rub as they don't flex they fold and pinch. I used these shoes daily and they are waterproof as you can see in picture I placed 1 foot under tap. They are breathable. And warm enough in wintertime. I have walked in frost but not snow and with normal socks are warm and offer good comfort. I think for the money £45 they are good and I recommend
